Mr Bester, I think the word you’re searching for in this performance is intimacy. Platonic, not romantic. Ms Christmas has a style that brings ppl in to experience the emotions she’s singing to an extraordinary degree. Whatever happens in this contest, her talent and hard work (equally important) are front and center. TY for your insights. I learned from this vid!

When you hear multiple voices in the songs it is actually the whole band singing. Rob sings on the albums but when live he doesn't sing at all. It is Chester, Mike, Brad, Dave (Phoenix), and Joe singing on stage. On the Reanimation remix album Jonathan Davis sings on the remix of One Step Closer. If you watch the Live performance from 2004 you will see Jonathan and Mike screaming Jonathan's part of the song. Mike and Chester both wrote this song. Mike wrote the lyrics he sang and Chester wrote the lyrics he sang. What is funny is that Chester wrote the lyrics at least several months before hand and they were just what Mike was looking for. Chester and Mike wrote quite often together. They both said in interviews that the only other people they spent more time with is their wives ( Mike with his wife and Chester with his wife). In between Minutes to Midnight and A Thousand Suns Chester released his album Out of Ashes by Dead By Sunrise. Out of Ashes was originally going to be Chester's solo album under his own name. 2 of his friends from the band Orgy (Ryan Shuck and Amir Derakh) helped him write the music amd some lyrics for the songs which led to Chester deciding to form a band with them. The band was originally called Snow White Tan but in 2008 or 2009 changed it to Dead By Sunrise. Diring that time Ryan and Amir formed their own band called Julian K which is still making music and performing every so often. They still perform Dead By Sunrise songs to help keep Chester's memory alive.

She made a song that is associated with bratty kids, into something far more adult. The depth of emotions she gave it, the big build up, full of hope and longing and then suddenly back to the realisation that tomorrow never comes. EXCEPTIONAL

What an awesome song. Mike Shinoda and Chester sung the first part together, then Chester alone, then both - also the rap part. The 'Oh's" in the background are from Mike, Joe (DJ) and Dave (bass) Please consider checking out the live version, they added an extended outro to this song since 2012. Linkin Park - Waiting For The End (Rock In Rio USA 2015) HD is a very good one.

Good suggestion on the live version. In my opinion, the best performance of this song would have to be the one at Red Square - Moscow from 2011 as while it may not have the extended outro, Chester effortlessly nails the high note at the end there (specifically the B4) almost as good as the studio version which is extremely hard to do.

@@JohanBesterYourVocalCoach Thank you. That's originally Facebook quality audio, 64 Kbps, but still pretty good. There are many more uploads of her performances in different venues--she is very versatile and even mastered pure sounding credible classical soprano technique in the last few years, even though she was not classically trained when younger. Plus she manages to get even more beautiful as she gets older--she's 34 now.

@@ThelSuperlKing She's not largely unknown in the Philippines, she's had a string of hit songs for movie and TV themes. From Wikipedia: "In 2018, Jona made Awit Award history as the first Filipino artist sweeping all digital categories - Most Downloaded Song for 'You', Most Downloaded Artist, Most Streamed Song for 'Pusong Ligaw', and Most Streamed Artist - while her self-titled album won Best-Selling Album of the Year." I've been following her for about 10 years, so I didn't say she was new, just the best in my opinion I don't care how popular she is internationally. In my opinion that's a bandwagon effect. About five years ago there were a lot of KZfaq reactions, including coach reactions, to Jona, especially after her Queen of the Night performance on ASAP in Rome that went viral. In 2022 Jona took most of the year off, rarely appearing on TV (she had been a regular on one or another network variety shows since she was 15) or doing concerts. She claimed she was trying to open an animal shelter for stray animals, dogs and cats--she had like 40 cats and 30 dogs--but after a year when she made an appearance again on ASAP to introduce a new single said that it was only 2/3 finished. I think there was some other reason, perhaps a spiritual crisis or maybe she had to rest her voice or she was just burned out, and, my personal opinion, she didn't want to have to deal with all the requirements and restrictions of the pandemic, perhaps including getting vaccinated--if so, it's a smart choice as they have proven to be quite dangerous and ineffective, especially regarding preventing transmission. Morrissette might be my second favorite but I find her singing at times sort of boring; Gigi isn't in their league as far as vocal quality and for the last couple years her supposed live performances with her band have been quite autotuned, so I don't listen to them. But she's good at some genres like rock and jazzier stuff. I just saw a video of a live concert performance where she sings All By Myself with her band, that is not autotuned, in a skimpy outfit (also even skimpier in another video of Unholy)--she's in shape now, and attractive and sexy, entertaining and funny and does a good job with the song. She's also an actress. Jona sings in a variety of styles which the others don't, but she has a tone that appeals to me and she's the only singer that can give me chills, when she goes from soft to explosive quickly. I don't understand why she's not internationally as well-known because she's beautiful, though her appearance has changed over the years---I think she's been tweaking her nose every few years, aside from the first nose job she had when she was like 16, but so has Gigi. Jona rose to fame when she won the first Pinoy pop superstar contest in 2005 at 15, under the auspices of Regine Velasquez. In 2006 she entered the World Championship of the Performing Arts in California and won every category she entered--15 gold or overall champion awards in singing. She's gotten even better in the last five years or so. She's a friend and frequent collaborator with Morissette--in 2016 and 2017 she and Morissette were part of the four girl group on ASAP called Brtit Queens. Check out this performance by Jona from September 2019 (search KZfaq for the exact title)--I think it's the best version I've heard: I'll Never Love Again - Jona | The Aces - evelyn de leon

@@ThelSuperlKing By the way, to add additional information, here is a recent comparison reaction video for Morissette Amon, Jona Viray, and Regine Velasquez. I don't usually like these type of things because the clips are usually of unequal quality. But this reactor was recently introduced to Jona for the first time and among a selection of different singers he thought she was the best. And he has made some astute observations about her singing. In this one I'm not sure about the video itself--it's about the high notes--but it seems but he prefers Jona and if you read the comments, they're almost all in favor of Jona over the others. The title of the video is: THEY ARE THE BEST! - Morissette Amon vs Jona Viray vs Katrina Velarde - SLAYING HIGH NOTES! Here's what one commenter, ForEighteen, has to say about her, which sort of contradicts your level of reputation statement: "Among these three, Jona is the most low-key and least active on social media, but also the most well-received in terms of awards, like/dislike ratios, and positive commentary. She has a humble, demure, classy, and mature aura about her that has helped her gain the respect of her rivals' fans. Aside from having ease and fullness in her upper belts, she has a knack for classical singing and a reputation for sounding "expensive" and "vocally healthful" even while executing her most extreme vocal feats. Her mids and lows are topnotch as well. For many vocal purists and technique connoisseurs, she's the go-to singer among the Filipino divas. After transferring from GMA Network to ABS-CBN, she modified her singing style, switching from a focus on extreme vocals to a focus on storytelling and musicianship, still showing off her range and power albeit in a more controlled and tasteful fashion. The performance at 9:20 is her performance of "Over the Rainbow" at the ACES Araneta Concert. YT user 'TheBrocc' has the best quality."

@@ThelSuperlKing I find that remarkable, even more so for vocal coaches. I have seen this numerous times with other vocal coaches. Agreed, sometimes it's less obvious, but in this case the artifacts are quite apparent. But even in cases where it is not as obvious as this, there should be some consideration as to what they are actually critiquing, in my opinion, especially in analyzing vocal placement and pitch accuracy when they're listening to a synthetic, autotuned or pitch corrected replacement of the actual voice.

@@ThelSuperlKing I thought you said in your about section that you just uploaded the raw video but maybe some of them you do the cut paste. Cut and paste, or splice, is what they've done since the early days of recording. It's different than changing the pitch and tonal quality artificially.
