Oh that's what those clear notes mean it's just telling you to put your fingers there and get ready. I thought they wanted it played as a chord lol

Can sum1 explain to me how to play the session mode bc, I don’t understand it what to do when colors change to on the bottom on screen so, pls!! I need help!!
@BobbyBriscoeBeats3 жыл бұрын
That's the notes from the next chord that will be played, so you can use those notes to sound really in with the band.
@Grock667 жыл бұрын
you only play the note when the color is solid ? its off putting to me
@Dravain7 жыл бұрын
No, those are "chord tones" notes that exist in the chord that is being played by the backing track. In simplified terms, they're good notes to start and end a riff on. After a while of playing you don't even need to look at the screen, it's just a good starting template when getting used to the fretboard.

The session mode has a lot of potential and is probably very great for experienced professional guitar players like you. I have played for over a year and find it rather useless. It has amazing potential and I think they could have had some licks you had to play over certain parts to get through it, but it is completely useless. The missions are "play 10 minutes in scale xx with band yy" and you play random notes and it sounds crap and you get "through". Perhaps you could do such a videos series? If you know somebody that does that, then please let me know. If you decide to do such one yourself, then I would be more than willing to make donations over Patreon or such.

+TheParaz Thanks for your comments. Sorry for not replying sooner, but I haven't logged in for a while. I am a bit busy right now, but I will give your suggestion some serious consideration. Did you find anyone else yet that does the type of online Rocksmith tutorials you are looking for?
@TheParaz8 жыл бұрын
+pick pocket Unfortunately not a single one. Not even commentary on any song. It would be already cool with somebody doing commentary on songs (like: the solo is in harmonic e minor and you use finger x,y,z to play these notes) and slow motion of hand movements. Rocksmith and 2014 had sold over 5 million copies and after a few hours of search i found NOTHING to help me out on rocksmith. There seems to be a billion of guitar teachers who furiously compete against each other and nobody has come up with this idea?
@TommieGab8 жыл бұрын
I second this completely. I totally want to be able to use this feature to its potential but I havent a clue where to begin. I am here searching for exactly that. Looking at other session mode videos just to figure out clues as to how to get into session.
@KrizH36 жыл бұрын
The reason i think so many people feel clueless in session mode is because it isn't so much straight forward as with the learn a song feature. The success you'll have in session mode is very music theory dependent. Results in session mode basically indicates how good you are as a musician. So even if you have almost 100% on every song on the Rocksmith song list, you can still be clueless in session mode. This is why i consider Rocksmith to be more a practice tool than a teaching one. In spite of it being great for getting your feet wet. The session mode is a great practice tool no matter your level, you just have to use it right. (The missions in session mode are very clumsy.) The two ways to get effective results in session mode is: Learn practical music theory, and learn the scales to the point you know them by heart.
@dustinf496 жыл бұрын
+TheParaz Have you improved any since you left this comment a year ago? If you or anyone is still wanting some tutorial videos, then I would be more than happy to show you some tricks that would help you jam with session mode.

James White Notes of the chord being played by the band at the moment. It tells you what notes to play to sound consonant and what notes to play to sound dissonant. If you combine both options wisely you'll create tension and release which is what really makes the difference between a rock concert and an elevator muzak machine.
@warningchimes244 жыл бұрын
@@einarabelc5 almost all of music uses tension and release, not just rock.

i got a question for you i just picked up the 2014 version of the game and wanted to play it on the black ovation i got from my uncle to learn to play the guitar now i seem to have some problems with the calibration of the game to it the game can t seem to hear it. The guitar is old so i don t know if just something is defect on the plug or what ever is the matter ^^ or am i better of grabbing a learning guitar from Amazon

Thanks for the tips ! I love this song, and I think it will need to wait until I can hit such a stretch... For the moment, I can't... But thanks ! Any videos about the speed on the mediator ? (Misirlou for example). I can't speed up my right hand enough to make a down up down up with the mediator on 1 chord... (even at 75% speed, I can't get the right speed for Misirlou...)

Wow, I never knew the guitar was so complicated. I moved to bass from guitar and had listened to this song as a bassist. I love how Alex holds a chord and plays melodies with spare fingers (i.e. Manhattan Project: "the big bang..took and shook"). Great job on a great song. I just bought rocksmith to get better at bass and this was the first song I bought. I hope to do the bass nearly as good as you did the guitar.
@TheSiscoKid21129 жыл бұрын
It depends on the guitarist. Alex Lifeson is very melodic, and plays open strings with his chords. Bass is hard because of how you need to pluck and pick with the right hand, but guitar can be harder depending on who's music you're playing.

Why do the notes fade in and out during the jam. It highlights certain notes of the scale at times. I guess you focus on the dark colored notes of the scale at that time?
@cactustactics10 жыл бұрын
The boxes are the notes in the scale the progression is currently using, and the ones that are lit up are the chord tones of whatever chord the band is riffing on. So it's basically a way of seeing what's actually happening in the progression, and a hint for what you can play to lock in and get stronger consonance and all that
@mauitorio10429 жыл бұрын
cactustactics so I could basically just press any note on that scale? I don't have to just press the notes that are lighting up?
@cactustactics9 жыл бұрын
Maui Torio Yeah! The boxes are the notes of the scale you're using, and the lit ones are the notes the current chord is using (chords are made from certain notes in a scale). Watch the boxes as the progression changes from chord to chord, different groups of notes light up, but they're all from the same set of scale notes. So since they're all from the same 'family' of notes, you can play any from the scale and they'll all fit together. The lit ones will sound 'stronger' because they match a note in the chord, but the others will give movement and colour. You can also play notes that _aren't_ in the scale (the wavy lines next to the chord name will distort when you do), which will sound more dissonant - sometimes you want that, or sometimes you play one briefly as a passing note (moving through one as you go from one scale tone to the next) Deciding which to play and when, and why they sound good is... music, basically! That's the tricky part. But yeah, that's basically how lead and solos work - band plays chords, lead guitarist notes from the scale. I wish the game would tie what you learn with session mode into the main game, so you know what scale you're playing instead of 'here's a bunch of notes!' but hey, maybe next version
