The suspention DOES transfer weight, but not necessarily the REASON it happens… obviously suspention doesnt compress until the load starts to shift… the suspention controls the transfer.

Brilliant simple explanation thanks. Just a thought would the resultant torque of the motor through the rear axle and tyre that is in contact with the ground during acceleration create a moment that would contribute to load shift experienced? If so then for high bite surface the main way to maximize rear traction would be to have a forward weight bias. Maybe it's explained in Part2. Will go to that now. Cheers.

Great information. How does drag brake figure in?
@rmunday76
@rmunday76 2 жыл бұрын
Hi mate, drag brake is similar to resting slightly on the brake. This helps the car automatically 'trail brake' into corners, helping to transfer weight onto the front end for more steering but without adding so much brake as to lock the wheels and lose grip. Drag brake is much more consistent than using the trigger to control small brake inputs into each corner.

Extremely good info. I'm on an extremely tight carpet track and it is night and day from driving dirt. I am in A 17.5 stockclass SCT. I am running the Trinity D4 motor but looking to buy An X factor motor. Not sure if this would be a dramatic difference but maybe you can and like maybe you can enlighten me on that

hey there,great vid!i have a question i race 1/10 nitro car on road,in case of traction roll wht shoud i change first?roll centre? spring?antiroll bar?damping?
@rmunday76
@rmunday76 2 жыл бұрын
Hi mate, it depends on what is causing it. Sometimes it's because the car turns in too fast - in which case lower front roll centre can help. Sometimes its because the rear slides and then the tyres catch and flip, in which case a lower rear roll centre can help. Generally heavier damping will help and stiffer springs will help.

The whole concept of setting up roll centre still have me baffled. Adding / removing +1mm shims on inside ball studs affects roll centre but I can never seem to notice the change. Would be great to have a follow up episode to explore this further. Thanks Ray for another very informative video.
@rmunday76
@rmunday76 3 жыл бұрын
It's a complicated subject as the geometry of the suspension also controls camber gain, scrub etc. Depending on feedback from this video it may be a future subject to run through some examples. A 1mm inner stud change should be noticeable as long as the car is in a decent window of setup - if it's outside that window sometimes it can be hard to pick . Maybe send me a pm with your setup and can help in more detail.
@extec101
@extec101 Жыл бұрын
@@rmunday76 had the same problem that my setup where way off and after alot of thinking and study of suspension (both Ray and JQ among others) i tested to get a new setup not far from standard (well the guys that constructed the car knows where to set rollcenter etc to function on most tracks) and now i can feel +-1mm or eaven .5mm of adjustment.
