Hi I put atf instead of hcf2 into the cvt and then am having this issue after a few months, do you think the tranny is beyond repair or do you think the sensor will fix it? The code was p0793
@avery214j
@avery214j 16 күн бұрын
Well two things are happening. The wrong fluid doesnt work with your tranee causing this code. Bad timing & the sensor just died. I would try & replace the sensor first. If its driving the tranee is ok but sounds like dirt & or the wrong fluid isnt working 2gether or like i said the sensor died. I would replace the fluid with the correct fluid & replace the sensor with a HONDA brand. The cvts dont like cheep sensors.keep in mind depending on how much fluid you put in. The torq converter holds most of your trans fluid. So if changing the fluid your only removing but so much.

Also try removing sensor. Clean it off & re-install. Make sure you push the sensor all the way in if you clean it off. Dirt trapped at the magnet part of the sensor can cause the signal to be blocked thus the computer cant talk to the sensor. Dirty fluid can easily cause this code. Goodluck

Thank you for the detailed explanation. I am still struggling to get this fixed. Code. P0793 accord 2013 Did the transmission fluid change. Installed new speed sensor. Still not able to shift to high gear or rev. More than 4000 rpm. Engine light on and the scanner reads the same code. Could this be an issue with the installation? Or the bad new sensor?

Hi. Your welcome. Make sure the sensor is totally & fully pushed in as far as it can go. Turn the 10mm bolt slightly and reset check eng light to see if it helps. That code normally means there is no signal from the sensor being picked up as it sits in its hole. My true experience has been that once i turn the 10mm retainer nut/bolt a slight hair to drive the sensor down so that the gear in that hole can read the magnet part of the sensor. This usually fixes that code for me

Hi. The part# you gave me looks correct. 288810J2-003 and long as u gave the dealer the right info or they gave you the correct sensor it looks to be good. Keep in mind the part number for the input & output trans speed sensor are 2 different numbers. The dealer will want to run some expensive Diagnoses. The problem lies in the gear not being ablt to read that magnetic head of the new sensor. Did u try turning the bolt slightly to push the sensor down?
@avery214j

Also just wiggle back & forth while pulling in upward. There is no lock that holds it on. Worse case you can remove the 10m. bolt that holds the valve mouting plate in place. If you need more room remove the battery as it will allow you better access. The you can pull the purge valve mounting plate towards you to have better access of removing it. The purge valve is made of hard pladtic and its sitting on a metal housing. Idk what else to tell you as it should slide off with a little force

Do you have a check eng code. Meaning is the light on? Vehicles can stall for a number of reason. These are just examples. A lack of the correct amount of air. Ignition issues.
