you should try the WA-19 on the wurst (knee/crotch) position. You get snare wire crunch, but more shell tone and all the toms. Good one to pummel with fast attack/release compression at a high ratio.

Silver centavo? lol. I think mic variety is more just a genre thing. Personally I never use a 57 on snare or guitar cab because it does THAT thing and that's not what I'm usually going for. I like being different and it's ok if my work suffers because of it haha.

Have you ever tried a ribbon mic? I'd love to see you review one. Fatheads are inexpensive and have a great vibe. AEA makes some awesome ones too theyre just more expensive.

Glad you said what you said about preamps. I've been wanting to add one to my set up, but as I've researched, I'm finding out to upgrade microphones first. I do have a 57 and a MXL v67 large diaphragm. That WA-19 looks like a fun addition.
