Sadel I seem to get so many parasitic drains mainly after the customer has spent time and money at previous garages having the simple parts changed, by then they have spent money and time without the vehicle then as you witnessed they are at the end of their patience. I felt for you at the end with the customer being upset even though you had followed the exact right diagnostic procedure without condemning incorrect parts, apart from the connector terminal cleaner, a bit of compressed air you supplied your knowledge to follow a direction path to give a definitive answer and you did, you gave it so precisely that I bet you felt great ( we all do) when you discovered the fault, you then are proud to tell your customer to then be flattened by their negative response and then to lose the customer is gutting. Mate all I can say is well done, although challenging it was great to see it’s not just me whom gets the challenging draws & as I said you did everything perfect, if you were a detective or a doctor and came to the correct answer you would of been patted on the back, appreciated and spoke highly of. Let’s just hope the customer views the video and reads these comments because WE are all behind you, and although I’m in the uk if I was local to you I would happily say to your customer “ you are not welcome at my workshop”. Don’t change a thing mate. Great content, as others have said I think it is the best PD video to date. Respect from the UK David Sinclair

Thank you for the kind words, it's awesome to hear someone that definitely understood my struggle. And funny thing on this one when I finally pulled that connector apart and saw the water, I did not feel "great" as we normally would, I felt "freed".... I felt that way because I had been on that truck for 15hrs stressed I was getting very tired, frustrated and beginning to lose hope. But luckily, I was able to overcome this one's challenge. Thank you for watching and thank you for the support! 👍

How do we know if tcm is malfuntion
@DTEAuto2 күн бұрын
it would be hard to determine if so, you would have to just replace solenoids and see if problem is still there and if so then maybe at that point can assume the tcm is bad. It's difficult to determine because you cannot do any testing of it during operation since it is inside the transmission

Amazing! I think the most converluted parasitic drain diags I've ever seen. Brilliant of you to share it and your knowledge Sadel! I have to admit that would have checked for bus activity. Found my way to the ABS and almost certainly would have pulled the trigger. What a huge mistake that would have been. You are then on the hook for the rest of the job. I learnt a great lesson today!

Glad it was helpful! And yes, I was seconds away from calling and stopping at the abs, to the point I was already pricing it out.... luckily nothing was readily available and so I decided to see if I could verify the abs on the bench. Thank you for watching

Curious...what exactly was it that the customer was expecting? Don't understand what they were unhappy with.
@DTEAuto2 күн бұрын
He was expecting it to be fixed by me since his shop and the dealer couldn't figure it out, but he was not expecting me to want to charge for so much time that it actually took to figure out the problem. My mistake was assuming that he was wanting it fixed no matter what it took, and so I didn't let him know it was taking so many hours. Ultimately, he is one of the many that doesn't respect diagnostics and paying for it. If I would have said it took me only one hour of diagnosis and it "needed" a $2,000 computer he would have been fine, but if I said the bill is $2,000 for all the time to figure out no parts needed, he now has a problem.

Thank you for the great information as always. How do feel about using amp clamps for parasitic draws?
@DTEAuto5 күн бұрын
Me, personally, prefer using the amp meter, but if all you got is an amp clamp, that works too. I believe I got tricked one time with a false or incorrect reading using the amp clamp, so I tap directly into the circuit with the amp meter. The more important thing that I have always expressed, is to try and scope it or graph it, that way you can see the actual activity and not just a number. Graphing out the activity can help you determine if it's a module or not. Thank you for watching
