A phone repair can have a few different outcomes. A Pre-Inspection Fail is, I'm on site at a customers location, inspecting the phones damage. It either showed no signs of life when connecting to a charger or damage was so bad it was unrepairable. Usually it's a bent frame or dead unresponsive circuit boards, but today dudes, we have Back to Back Customer NO SHOWS! 2 hours of driving for nothing! A Post-Inspection Fail is when the phones is repairable, I start working on the phone, something goes wrong, I damage a board, camera, or tore a ribbon cable by accident. It's usually the ladder, only happens during the opening process of certain Samsung devices due to wonky design choices.
