One can only guess, of curse, but I suppose Bach would have loved this magnificent rendition on the piano instead of on the harpsichord.

I generally don't care for Bach on piano, there's a irreconcilable distance from the composer. But this young genius pours out a towering performance that completely bridges the gap. Every note infused, it's enough to make a baroque performer weep.

На 3.35-3.39 я плачу : Бог говорит : Я ВАМ ВСЕ ОТДАЛ ! И говорит так ласково и кротко , что я плачу ….. у Баха много таких моментов - в самую кульминацию , после борьбы , страстей и в общем то , ненужных , вдруг появляется ОН И КРОТКО ПРОИЗНОСИТ: ВЕДЬ Я ЗДЕСЬ, Я ВСЕГДА С ТОБОЙ ,МОЙ СЫН ,МОЯ ДОЧЬ , а мы не слышим ,!! я плачу

I have to constate, that Leo Bernstein was not egal to Glenn Gould. That's why orchester can't follow soloist at 100%. And egal the niveau of orchestra musicians. Sad about.

I’ve been listening to this recording for 20 years and not only has my adoration for his interpretation not waned, but I still discover new things that I’ve never heard before. In addition, I still can not find another artist’s recording of this work that moves me the same way. I am aware of an earlier recording of this by Gould…..which is equally amazing. Would anyone happen to know if there are any more recordings of this piece? Many thanks!
