This is nice because it doesn’t take up height like a drawer system, and easy to remove if doing work that requires the whole bed (mulch). Also much cheaper! Thanks!

Love the stoppers! Dirt simple! And personally, all you need to do is to screw it in from the bottom. But I love this!

how does it perform with a heavier load, tool boxes, etc?

It’s not really made for heavier applications. 200lbs is about the limit that I can manage to pull in and out.

Does the hardboard need to be waterproofed ?

I like this method. Just hardboard and plywood ... no fancy hardware. Definitely this is going to be my inspiration.

I found your video while searching for ideas about bed slides. I stole your design and it is excellent. I used a lot more felt in the hopes of improving the slide with a lot of weight on it. I used outdoor carpeting on it to keep things from moving around. I also put tie downs on the tops of the sides to strap down items that might tip over. Works perfectly. Although, with heavy items, it does require some effort to pull out and push back. Still, it is better than a 1500 permanent slide that robs 3" of height in the bed. Thanks for showing me how to make this!

Could we lose 2inches of height and put casters and a track?

I do a lot with my Chevy avalanche, I made a bed slide using wheels which works great, but it does reduce the amount of room. I have about 2 to 3 inches I think I’m gonna redo mine inspired by yours.

a guy could nail or screw compartments into it as well, even with lids or a box with other drawers, maybe use a roller dowel ( pin, bolt or dowel with a sealed bearing at the end) in the backside of the shelf so when its fully out the dowel holds it from teetering, holds it down .. in your case a carriage bolt out thru the inner side of your bed liner work great for that, use two nuts to secure a small sealed bearing....easy nuff, maybe need 3/4" on each side for the race.. worth it in case you have something heavy way out on the end but nothing at the back.. hold it down so it wont flip on you . . . :-) real good idea tho they want a bundle for those roll outs and they take up so much room, most are at least 8" tall? no thanks

I was very nervous putting my brand new beach cruiser on this rack. kzfaq.infoUgkxG6JIgwJhur8_Rg8UeQ3EmePzi_wSncL8 But after reading many reviews I decided to get this one and take a chance. When arrived it was very simple to adjust and put together. I also added spike tape over the metal hooks before securing and tightening the straps, and no scratches. I also purchased the top bar made by the same company so that my cruiser sits straight on the rack without having to turn upside down. Extra bungee cords are used to secure the front wheel from flapping and even piece of mind knowing your bike is secure. Definitely recommend...

Great vid and thanks for sharing. Oh and by the way, on my Ram 1500, I only need to kick the tire once to open the bed cover. They have an upgrade that allows you to just say “Cover, Open half way”, to operate it….😎

Came across this looking for ideas to put a 6 foot long slide in our rv pass through. Going with 1/2" and glue a piece of hard board to it since the pass is carpeted. Then I'll add some collapsing legs for support... Simplest solutions are always the best IMO ... Great work bud! You did all the hard work for us.

Thanks from Australia! Great idea! I like the low profile compared to any bearing model, giving you some more vertical space. The felt is fine and I've mounted the Milwaukee Packout system onto the slide, full of heavy tools and it works well! Video is straight to the point, no nonsense.

So none of the fractional boxes have dimensions that bear any relation to the full apple? Either the full apple is too big or (if it is the correct size) the half apples and quarter apples are too small. Y’all realize that “nesting” boxes are at cross purposes with the modularity, right? What if we had nesting legos, but legos didn’t fit. Wow, they nest! But they’re useless as legos. Same deal as these apple boxes. Why do people have to “improve” something that doesn’t need to be improved.
@grizzlephotovideo
@grizzlephotovideo Жыл бұрын
I wasn't trying to improve upon anything. To me, being able to more easily store them away or travel with them was more important than modularity since I rarely use them that way.

Seems like felt strips should go the full distance of the slider because when loaded the entire thing needs to slide just not the back portion don't you think.

Don't the stopper strings interfere with the closing of the bedside and you could have used a piece of scrap lumber for the cab end of the slide instead of the right angle piece of metal it would have served the same purpose. Overall it was very informal video and a nice simple application for the everyday lightweight cargo overall satisfied with your video.
