I stayed there for a week 3 months ago with a plan to head off to Koh Chang Island which is the reason most people stop off in Ranong. Unfortunately didn't make it to the Island still had a nice adventure exploring Ranong. It was the next stop for me from Khao Lak. This hotel was good value for money very quirky but comfortable rooms and cool air-conditioning. Mostly Thai people staying there. Did you notice the massive brutalist structure next door? It is an abandoned cinema built in the 1980s.

You can be both rich and deeply financially dependent. This would be your friend. You can be rich and be making money while you sleep, and never have to lift a finger to do anything, and stay rich until you pass away. The latter to me is rich. Bouncing on credit lines to fund your false Insta life is not Rich - it's just stupid and almost drug like in its dependency. Hell, here in the UK the percentage of people who have more than 10k in savings is like 15% or so. It's ridiculous, sad and often painful to see, know and watch.

People like Jeff are necessary for Thailand. They provide so much money to the people and country. What's sad is that the girls don't have the knowledge or resources to use the money he provides to significantly better their lives. 10 000B per night for 3 weeks is more than enough money for most people to properly change their life. Invest, buy a vehicle, start a business, learn a skill, get certified. Sadly, most of these girls will probably give the entirety to their parents, or they will spend it on more plastic surgery/jewelry/depreciatary assets. If you want to come and party like it's your last month alive, I believe you certainly should. Good on him.
