We are empty nester, so Christmas is quiet for us but we celebrate it in a very small version. Now we have a great grandson who is 5 & hope to do a family tradition with all of our 4 generations.

Set a wooden spoon across the top of the pan it helps to not boil over. It works. I set one across my pans all the time.

Thanks for the natural ant spray! For outside and the big ant hills, I use instant grits applied around the ant hill and the entrances to it. The ants eat them, bring them to the underground nest and all eat them and then die, b/c when they get to water the grits expand and that's what kills the ants. I have cats, dogs, horses and llamas, so I have to have something that won't harm them. It works well for me although it does take some time and sometimes another application.

Dawn platinum spray kills them on contact. Pretty scary since it's used on dishes, but I HATE ants also, so IDC. Maybe you could break down what's actually in it...

Ants hate chalk & peppermint. I use peppermint oil on a cotton ball or q-tip. I rub it around my windows and doors once a month. I also mix peppermint oil and water in a spray bottle and spray it around my deck to keep them at bay. Ants won’t cross chalk lines. I don’t know why but if you see a line of ants and you make a chalk line in between them they won’t cross it. They’ll go around it, or go back. I also plant mint plants for the ants and marigolds for mosquitoes.

I mix sugar, water, and borax together and leave drops of it on pieces of cardboard, or on plastic lids from food containers, such as sour cream. The ants are attracted to the sugar water, and the borax kills them. They also take the mixture to the rest of the colony, so the whole colony is wiped out! My sister once had problems with lizards getting into her apartment. She sprinkled cayenne pepper on the floor and soon found two lizards at her back door, desperate to get out!

I have tried to stop buying vinger unless absolutely needed and I make my kombucha, so I tend to have kombucha vinegar quite often from letting it ferment too long. I don’t eat apples so haven’t had opportunity to make apple cider vinegar. This helps immensely thank you for answering 😊
