Well done, Mr. Rovani! Although you say coming from the town of Puligny-Montrachet and going up the hill from Bienvenues-Batard-Montrachet you reach Batard-Montrachet then Le Montrachet. Shouldn't that be Montrachet and not Le Montrachet being that you're in Puligny and not Chassagne? This is of course padantic and shows what a little person I am, but being much more knowledgable of Italian wines than French, I get very excited that I know anything about the vineyard that yields the greatest wine in the world (not just the greatest white wine).

Ironically, pedantic is spelled pedantic ;) I don't know that a true pedant could spell pedant wrong and still be a pedant. So there's that.

After explaining how it’s pronounced at 0:12 did he really at 1:18 just call it the MORE ruh shay?
@mikemchugh30732 жыл бұрын
Yes, I caught that as well. I thought maybe a collective title to the whole area? Regardless of pronunciations, I did some pricing...well at least it's not Romanee Conti Pinot $$$$$$$$$$$... (we're gonna need a bigger Piggy Bank)

What does "the interstate" mean to a Frenchman. I would suggest not much.
Yeah, but his audience is a group of Americans, so he’s using American references.

My wish list is to try all Batard, Chevalier & Montrachet at the same time so that I can completely understand what the difference is.

Bring your cheque book because your wallet won't hold enough cash. Maybe you have been to the Marche au Vins in Beaune. You will get a similar experience tasting from different vinyards as you walk along the Cote du Beaune. However, your wish is indeed different. I wish you luck.

due to the nature of different climat, they tend to react different to different vintages as they have different terroir. Even if you are to taste all the montrachet vineyards at the same time, it is not sufficient to understand them. You will need to taste a couple of vintages =D

My girl and I went to Montrachet a couple of years ago, it’s a special place like so many vinyards in burgundy. It’s fun to drive around for some days and a visit loads of maisons & taste their wines. We still have a bottle of hospice de beaune “savigny le beaune 1er cru 2015 (red) and a saint aubin 1er cru 2013( white). Great bottles and not extremely expensive for burgundy

You are mistaken. I know this man, he is considered the world's foremost authority on Burgundy, and he is so down to earth and the furthest from a wine snob as one could be.

I found his video pretty educational and nicely delivered. Don't know why you would call him a snob, except for if you're not into wine and its distinctive history, terroirs etc.

Ulises Valdez, one of the nicest people you will ever meet, gives a detailed account of his history and how he became one of the GREATEST Vineyard Managers in California. Ulises' tale of tenacity is amazing. Hear from the man himself as he talks about growing up one of eight brothers and sisters, no father, and having to start work at the age of 8 in the fields. His story is amazing and so are his wines.
