Haha, from my observations and analysis, I believe the tagalog language was what made them kill the whisper challenge. 1. Tagalog has a simple syllabic structure of consonants (C) and vowels (V). The syllables consist of: CV, CVC, or V. That's it. 2. We don't use long vowels. All our vowels are short vowels (A=ah, E=eh, I=ih, O=oh, U=ooh). 3. With number 1 & 2 in mind, you pronounce the word EXACTLY as it's written. No silent characters here. And no double letters (only exception is if you see two of the same vowels together like 'aa'. When you see that, treat them as 2 syllables, pronounced 'ah-ah'). OTOH, you spell the word exactly how it sounds. Because of the simple word structure, typically, you can pick out what the other person is saying through context clues even if you don't understand what they're saying. Case in point, back in the ancient days, before the Philippines adopted the alphanumeric writing system, we used a form of writing called "Baybayin" (you can look up lyric videos of PPOP songs on YT. A lot of them have Baybayin on there as well). There are words that can not be spelled using the Baybayin system, so the word would be written as close as possible to how it sounds. The reader would have to use context clues to figure out what the writer is trying to say. That's why SB19 could figure out the tagalog words relatively easily. Well, 'Pulikat/Bukiran' got them because of the transposition. But as you saw, they got 'Playground' wrong because it didn't follow the tagalog syllabic structure, while they nailed 'Pepperoni Pizza' due to sounding similar to the syllabic structure. 'Macaroni' also had the same tagalog syllabic structure, so even if the middle members messed up, Pablo was able to recover. Another thing that I hear from other international reactors (I'm not sure if you were also one of them on one of your videos), is that the language sounds beautiful melodically. Again, I believe it's due to the syllabic structure (and some other nuances that I won't go into right now). That allows the artists to play with how they want the syllable to sound while keeping the meaning, which gives you that beautiful sounding melody. Similarly, the artists can make their rap hit fast and hard (ex. Stacey in 'Salamin, Salamin' and Pablo in 'Gento'). It also helps because the language makes it relatively easy for Filipinos to pick up the diction of other countries' languages. Give them a little bit of practice, and they can sing any song in any language, and they could even pass off as a native speaker of that country. So you've got a country full of great singers (myself not included lmao), and the language that backs them up. Perfect musical combination IMHO.

Their lives are more amazing. They are on par with SB19 in terms of singing imo. Very underrated group. They need more bop songs. My bf says they're like Destiny's child. ❤ but i hope they do more! Edit: yes i do get confused which is which still! And i'm also a Filipino 😅
