The metropolitan area has five airports and no they're not all within the city of Los Angeles but then neither are the London area airports. LAX, Burbank, Long Beach, Ontario, and Orange County. All five airports serve the region and have been around for many years.

Denver pop is 713k btw. The "metro" area is bedroom communities. Hardly a metropolitan city.

Err correction... London only has 2 Airports. City Airport (quite small) and Heathrow. Gatwick, Stanstead, Southend and Luton Airport are NOT in London. They only put London before the actual location so people have a rough idea of where it is. Ask anyone, who doesnt really know the UK where Luton, Gatwick, Stanstead and Southend are in the UK and watch them stutter, but because they've put London in front of where it actually is, they'll have a rough idea of where the airport is. Also, there are train lines that go directly to these airports from London, but that still doesnt change the fact that they're not in London

Military airports are always very long. Denver is like a Federal city. There are many Federal agencies there. The Military Intelligence school is there. I went to spy school in Denver. Because of its central location and isolation from the coastline it is safer for US Gov ops. It would be a good location for continuity of Gov, you have to have a location for continuing the Gov after SHTF. Its only 2 hours by plane from Springfield Missouri and the known underground facility there, where the whole mountain has been hollowed out by limestone mining. Denver AP could be the transportation, comm hub and Springfield Mo is the living and governing SHTF continuity location. 2 locations for insurance and redundancy.
