Most people use photoshop to make graphics and overlays like these, but there's also free online apps that can get the job done

Cosmetic best buddy ribbon sounds like they were giving penalties for mons that weren't registered as bb displaying the ribbon, which isn't all that uncommon to see with high rank picks players like to use often *and* has absolutely no effect on gameplay *and* is completely out of a player's control once they hit that buddy level (I know there's a show ribbon setting but it's local to the device). Hoping San Diego has some competent judges for Go, myself and many other local players will be attending.

Not a typo!! Season 9 is in reference to the fact that it's the 9th Pokemon GO Season since they introduced the concept of seasons - nothing to do with GBL!

Dedenne would be one Pokemon for the Electric Cup that would resist Brutal Swing because of its Fairy typing. It's kinda squishy, though, so still might take a lot of damage from it anyway.

It really just seems like giving players who dodge a loss is the simple way to go, but I suppose that make it even *quicker* to intentionally tank your rank and farm rewards on lower ELO players. That's probably less of a problem than the current problem though, so I'd say still worth it.

Very cool strategy! I do something similar in open ultra league where my gyarados lead gets shield advantage, then lapras farms down to get a massive energy lead. Very cool to see this kind of thing work in silph as well!

Being somewhat new to Silph and/or pvp in general, I have pieced together how pvp iv works and this confirmed that and then added a ton of other knowledge, I will need to watch this a few times to get it all. I do have a question - I assume that the IV's don't affect the rate (still 0.5 secs per turn) you can gain energy on a pokemon, but does affect the amount of damage delivered, is that right? or will better IV's also affect the energy gain per turn as well? basically allowing faster charging.

That is correct; IVs determine damage but not energy generation. The only differences in how much energy is generated per turn is how many turns the fast move takes, and how much energy each fast move generates. You can find these values for every move in the game here: pvpoke.com/moves/

Even though I didn't participate in any Silph Arena tournament I still enjoy watching this kind of battles. Also, your commentary is pretty informative and helps players to improve their way of thinking during gbl battles even though it doesn't have something to do with nightfall cup meta. Nice video!

@@mrdoctorpants9372 overtapping usually refers to when you're tapping on the charge move button and the game throws another quick move instead of firing the charge move when you have enough energy. It's unintentional and indicative of a design flaw. That's not what you showed in the video.

I think it would be great to use this model to simulate a given pokemon with various IVs vs the meta to determine optimal IVs for highest win rate / health score as the max stat product may not always be best.

This would be the ideal; however there are a few reasons why this is not currently implemented. Note that each individual Pokemon can have 4096 different IV combinations. To figure out the best IV for a 1v1 would require 16.7 million simulations. Add in all 600+ Pokemon, and this number gets even more out of control. Additionally, the best strategy in choosing IVs might be a mixed strategy (say using a particular combination 60% of the time, and another 40% of the time). Add into this complexities from different movesets, and the fact that even 1v1 battles have not yet been perfectly solved for, and you get one of the most interesting computational questions in Pokemon Go simulation. I am working on various strategies for helping answer this question, but as of right now the stat product ranking is the best approximation. However, advanced players should note that there are specific problems with this ranking as mentioned in the video, but these can be found using bulkpoints and breakpoints.
