It would be very difficult to do anything once the orbit of the moon changes. Even burying the peak cold war era nuclear stockpiles into the moon and using them to eject vast amounts of rock isn't enough meaningfully alter its orbit. About the only plan I can think of that could be done using human scale resources would involve burying nukes in large main belt asteroids and either colliding them or using gravity assists to domino together a helpful gravity assist from something like the dwarf planet Ceres. However, orchestrating that maneuver would probably take a century or more as you use gravity assists to convert your little nuclear bomb scale pushes into something that can usefully maneuver planets around the solar system. Useful if the Earth is going to be hit by the moon in hundreds of years, not next month.

The pizza isn't saving their lives. It's nice to have but dehydration, the crocodile, and potentially exposure to cold weather are worse problems. Starvation takes weeks. The weather can change in less than that. You can run out of drinkable water and die in less than that.

I don't think the heat is an advantage. It increases the crocodile's metabolic activity meaning it can think and move faster. It also means the crocodile is burning calories and likely to get hungry sooner. The only good thing about the heat is that if it were cold you'd need to worry about hypothermia.
