Great lesson Andre. It's a shame this is topic is pretty much only taught in a jazz context or taught to jazz guitar players so a great many players don't even know of quartal chords or have never used them especially since this is a concept that can be used in many ways in many genres.

@@Nyu.Gxß hi there! Make sure you get a good amp. Not expensive, but good. A small tube combo and some pedals, or if that is not possible a nice amp in a box kind of thing like the Uafx or similar. Too many guitarists miss out on the second half of the guitar equation: the amp.

After watching this video several times I actually don't understand how to do exercise 1. Are those finger snaps mean to represent the metronome or the notes we play on instrument? Should we count aloud along or not?

A square would indeed be better at the same side length. But they take up a lot of room. I use squares along the floor to wall edges behind the desk and other places. But triangles for corners.

I appreciate the venturing into high end design and execution. I don’t come to YT for basic technique instruction, but, rather, inspiration, so this one ticked that box for me. About your concave relief for your wrists to rest on, guitar builders are well familiar with that shape on the back of a solid body design; it’s called the belly curve and is there to make room for exactly what the name suggests. I agree with you on mixing and matching contrasting woods. So when I saw your fix for the exposed domino and covering the bread board pins, I thought, “Noooooo, … not brass and walnut!” Otherwise, many beautiful choices.

I just made heavy use of Thomann's 30-day return policy and tested a bunch of headphones, from cheap (t.bone HD 815, Superlux HD 660 Pro, HD 662 (F), AKG K-182) though low-mid-priced (AKG K-361, Sennheiser HD 280 Pro, these 70th anniversary DT 770 Pro), up to the 200 € range (DT 700 Pro X and DT 770 Pro X LE). I already have the DT 880 Edition, so I'm used to the Beyerdynamic sound and I like it a lot. I wanted some closed-backs for recording/practicing that shouldn't sound too far off. And I found these classic DT 770 Pro to be the best by far, also closest to the DT 880. Especially for the price, and especially this edition with the case included, it's a steal! The Pro X models sounded different, but not better for me (too V-shaped on the 770 Pro X LE, too closed-in on the 700 Pro X, both with somewhat unpleasant treble). Same for the K-361, which might have had a bit more linear frequency response, but sounded far less exciting and also not more revealing/detailed. The HD 280 Pro sounded kind of analytical in the mids, but not fun to listen to at all, and on my ears, they lacked bass. Probably a seal issue, because they're not known for little bass. Their lack of treble air was very apparent for me. And the cheap DT 770 Pro clones by Superlux and t.bone can't deny their Beyerdynamic influence and sounded good for the price, but their treble was disappointing: Far too sharp on the HD 660 Pro (which made them feel lacking in bass), and the t.bone HD 815 have peaky lower treble, lack upper treble, and have a bit too much bass for my taste. The HD 662 (F) and especially the AKG K-182 were really disappointing for me.

I totally agree with you about using four fingers but I must admit my ring and pinky finger are somehow using the same nerve! If I bend one I bend both inextricably. I wonder if that's why some people use three fingers. Maybe they are just rogue guitarist that never had formal training (that's actually 70 percent of guitarists I think). However, I think I have a valid reason for excluding my pinky finger.
@andretonelli
@andretonelli 23 күн бұрын
Hi! I never had formal training either, but I did want to be able to play anything and learned quickly that I needed all 4 fingers to do that. More talented players might get away with 3, for sure! But when it comes time to teach people, I think it's important to offer the "best" possible way of getting them as far as possible, if that makes sense. They'll still change and adapt things when they are able to. Andre
