Great Video. The Lodge cast iron pizza pan is fantastic. I got it because my camper's gas oven would burn the pizza crust. The plastic cutlery is a fantastic deal. They don't hold up to heat very well, so have metal utensils for cooking. For storage, I use Bauer stackable tool boxes from Harbor Freight. Walmart does have a stackable tool system in the Hart line, I just happened to catch the Bauer on sale. The best camping item I think Walmart has is the Hart 5 gallon cordless sprayer. It takes Hart power tool batteries. I think it's only available online though.

I recently bought a Sienna 500-sized for ultralight panfishing, and I opened it up just to see what's inside. Like you, I was impressed with the lubrication, and quality of the fit and finish with the gearing. Shimano does a great job with these reels at their current price-point. No, it's not Sedona-level quality, but for $30 the overall quality is very good. With 4lb test monofilament, this little reel casts very nicely.

Great vid with some thinking outside of the box ideas. One thing about the paracord though. Even though the label says 550 paracord, it's not true 550. It says on the label that it's only 110 pound test. So if you're using it for a hammock or something else that needs to support a lot of weight, you'll need to double up or even triple up on it.
@WhereWeWild
@WhereWeWild Күн бұрын
Thanks man appreciate it! 👊🏽😃 And yeah that’s a great great point and good for people to know for sure. 550 is the static load, and it should hold pretty close to that in a fixed or “static” position, but the “working load” on 550 is usually like 110-150ish depending on quality, and a hammock is a great example of looking at that working load rating because it’s that sudden drop type movement when you get on a hammock that can cause it to snap at the working load, so for jobs like that you definitely want to get a stronger line or double up like you said. Great point. Thanks for pointing it out. 👊🏽😎🤙🏽

Ahhh man that sucks I hate when they discontinue parts. 🤦🏻‍♂️ I would check eBay for sure, any other part sites, but I would think there are definitely drive shafts from other shimano reels that will work, especially on a Curado. I’m just not sure which ones. Maybe also try to contact shimano and see if they can tell you which ones might be able to replace it and then see if any of those are available to get.

It was my first BFS reel (Drag Clicker Version) and for the price point I was satisfied. I still use it occasionally for Bass fishing with 3-7 G lures approximate range, however I caught the BFS bug and moved up to higher price point reels for my fishing enjoyment. It still functions for my philosophy of use but isn't my first choice out of the stable. I do recommend it for someone getting into to BFS bass fishing. I don't think I would use it for stream fishing but I think with the right rod it would easily cast 3-4 gram sinking trout minnows for those who do that type of fishing. Obviously not as tight tolerances as Shimano or Haibo/Ark BFS reels so it could be shimmed up a bit (on my copy).

And when you talked about heating or cooling a small space i am fortunate to have a two room shed in my back yard, the original 8x10 shed was built when the house was in the 50's. During the 70's a 10x20 addition was added. When we moved here and got settled my son and i insulated it, but hard wood interior wall covering, upgraded electrical and put a window ac and a small wood burning stove in. During covid we put in a mini split that heats and cools to replace stove and window unit. Still have wood stove that could be used as a cook surface if needed. So it doesnt take much to remove the mowers and work bench and tools and carry out a bed matress and a few peaces of furniture from the house to live out there. Already have a small beer fridge out there and a generator sitting in the garage that can be pulled out to power the whole shed.

Some decent tips for beginners. Good job. Folding your tent into thirds obviously only works for particular tents. Just look at the length of your tent bag to figure out how many times to fold the tent before rolling it. Also roll it as tightly as you can, because this makes it much easier to fit back into the bag. For those who don't want to lay a tarp and then a tent and then another tarp and then some rubber tiles... I sometimes just put a cheap rubber-backed picnic rug inside the tent. This gives a little extra insulation from the ground and it's sort of like having the comfort of a carpeted floor. It's also still easy to clean.
@WhereWeWild
@WhereWeWild 5 күн бұрын
Hahaha man it’s such a shame everyone thinks we were saying to use the tarp and the tiles at the same time inside the tent because we simply didn’t remove the tarp before we showed the next flooring option. Ruined this whole video. That’s all people hang up on. 😂

Oh and I'm bringing trays of eggs, they're big in our diet, and where we live, food is considerably cheaper than the city near where we go camping, so we take it all 🤣 we usually have food left over, so whatever is suitable gets given to other campers, or dropped at a foodbank, coz we're not taking it home again.

I have bottles of water in the bottom of my chest freezers permanently, they're my emergency water supply, and for camping, plus, they keep the food higher in the freezers so I don't have to dive to the bottom for what I need. I have been known to take my freezer camping when there has been a crowd of us for a few weeks. Had a generator, but it died the first day, then rented one for as long as we could, but still had about 10 days after that. Surprisingly, my upright freezer kept everything frozen much longer than the small chest freezer, which ended up being used as a fridge, just put the days food in there to thaw out, and keep the fridge stuff cool. People think I'm stupid, but I'm out there to camp, I don't want to be running to the shops every second day for supplies lol 😂
