Soooo I didn't even know you have adhd, and I, just today, applied for leave at work because i recently only discovered that I have adhd, and am completely burnt out, and probably have been for years but just kept blaming myself for being lazy. This video is not just about plants for me. Its about everything. My whole life! Thank you! I will now trow out my pest-invested, yellow leaved, parts of my life, and spent more time with the ones I love :)

Love this video thank you! 🙏 😊 I often use yours and other planty KZfaq videos to body double on many different low dopamine tasks like cleaning, washing and motivating myself the exercise 🧠🌈✨🌿💚 If it wasn’t for KZfaq I’m not sure that I’d ever get anything done 😂

Such a great video, thanks so much! I'm pretty sure I am ADHD and my plants do get forgotten/neglected and some days I just can't bring myself to look after them even though I know they need it. Then I feel really bad! What you say makes so much sense to me :)

Great video idea! However, the title reads as if the houseplants are neurodivergent 😅 Might I suggest something like: - Houseplant care tips: Neurodivergent edition - How to care for houseplants when you're neurospicy - The ultimate houseplant care guide for neurodivergent plant lovers

Oh Becca, I always love your videos. I know that taking care of our plants can be fun and sometimes difficult, if I have a plant that gets yellow leaves I try and figure out what I did and I know that I learn more about how to take care of them, if they are doing bad and look really bad I sometimes just throw them away, and also if they get bugs then you can learn how to treat them. I really love the Fittonia and have one and sometimes they do good and sometimes not.Yes learning plant care does become so wonderful and I realize what plants are great for me and what are more of a challenge and care, but I have been learning better how to take care of the plants I have and I have been loving the ones I have more and more. I know that when I see my plants they do make me happy. Thanks so much for this great video, have a blessed and beautiful day, sending love and hugs, bye!! 😂🥰🙏🙏👍💖💕💜💜

I was diagnosed with ADHD 7 years ago and the BODY DOUBLING is BY FAR the best thing while I’m doing tasks! I unintentionally found myself watching plant videos while I do plant chores, or fish videos while I do water changes. I realized recently that when I’m watching these videos and hearing people talk about these things THATS what gets me to think about my tasks in that topic and want to get up and do them! (I work from home and can’t tell you how many times listening to your plant chores made me need to take a break to water plants 😂) Also idk if body doubling to fall asleep is a thing but I cannot fall asleep unless I’m listening to a KZfaq video or podcast to drown out the racing thoughts! At least for me body doubling feels like either I can hear someone talking about my tasks and keeps me focused cuz it drowns out the random thoughts OR if someone’s there with me they catch me when I loose focus and can go “HEY FOCUS!” And snaps me out of it (but watching you tube videos about the subject work way better cuz no one wants to just come over and watch me do laundry

Also I’ve been using Planta App since it first came out and it’s the ONLY reason I can keep as many plants as I do 😂 I use the reminders/to dos as a “I should check that plant” list

Great video! As far as the rigidity of sticking to the rules *we* created: I survived with ADHD for years on shear anxiety of maintaining my rules of order and following rules. That eventually wears you out and you can’t live like that. Realizing there are no rules, and rules can be broken is key to breaking out of that anxiety. Put systems in place that make plants more forgiving- self watering pots & growing them in semi-hydro helps.

I keep 2 yearly planners. One for life and appointments and the other I keep a watering / care / preventative for my plants. This helps me greatly to go back and 2 months and see "Oh yeah the PonyTail palm is due for water" I got a staineless steel rolling cart from Sam's Club and I live up my plants on the two shelves so I then just roll them into the kitchen to water / wash / drain or treat and do them in this way by location. Then I fill in on the planner who got what and then I make it fun with plant stickers and have a little colors dot system for it. This helps me too where each plant I take out and then return to its spot in the house so I dont have unfinished plants sitting around then I can sanitize the sink once I'm done. But I have to say in my head the entire time take, treat, return, in my head.

I'm slowly converting to semi hydro as it's easier to see what needs water, plus they can handle a couple of weeks if I'm getting burnout. I also got myself some glass mosiac buttons to colour code my plants based on care needs. If I don't have time/energy to care for all my collection today i can focus on ones with a blue button as they don't handle drying out. It also helps to remind me of light needs when i start rearranging my displays.

All of that related in some way to me. Another big rule for me is the plants have to be easy to reach. If I have to get a ladder or a chair to reach it, I won't be watering it as much as it needs. As nice as my pothos would look on my shelf, I would let it dry out and die.

This video was so helpful! Is there a reason why you wouldn't just use treated wood? Is it better for the plant to leave untreated? I'd prefer to stick my plank straight into the soil if possible but want to avoid rotting

I grew up in San Diego, CA. Both my late parents were Master Gardeners. But they focused on outdoor and shade-house plants. My dad didn't have a green thumb, he had a green arm! Ar one time or another, he had every flower that didn't need the cold to grow. Since I live in an apartment, I grow houseplants. I have a little over 100 plants currently. Thank you for this video, it gave me ideas.

My hoya callistophylla has put out a bunch of new leaves. It was in straight peatmoss when I got it. I haven't repotted it. I've had it about four months and it's given me about five or six leaves. When I brought it home I put it under a 24 inch barrina t5 light (12 inches above the shelf) and it put out a tendril after about a month of just sitt'n there lookin' pretty. It's been putting out leaves as the tendril aims into space. I water it about every five or six days. The peatmoss is dryish, but not quite hydrophobic. I don't water it enough to saturate the pot, but I give it a nice drink. I'm leary of the peatmoss, but so far it's been a happy hoya

I love your fittonia and hope that the way you are propagating them it works, my fittonia is not that full and long and I want to find one that it that full and pretty. Thanks for sharing your plant chores and that plant area you cleaned up is looking so pretty, I do like to propagate plants. Have a great day and have some good rest and also so wonderful you have your adorable baby girl. Sending love and hugs, bye!! 😂🥰👶👶🪴🌹🥀💜💜💛🤎🖤💖

I’m so glad the Manjula is giving you confidence to grow more! I love seeing how the greenhouse is giving you more space to experiment indoors without much additional workload. Also, I completely agree with your sentiment of not storing things you can’t use, even if you like them. It’s hard, but real.

I feel like pothos dries too quickly in terracotta. I don't love watering chores so much that I would keep anything else in unglazed terracotta than succulents. Now that I have somewhat big collection, I live for the self-watering pots so that the plants can go without watering for as long as possible. I know that the plastic pots aren't for everyone's style. This year I have moved more and more plants into pon and for the rest of the soil living plants purchased more self-watering pots with a water reservoir. I've also made some by myself for progagations. Easy care is my go to because I will get a baby in September... I loved the baby backpack you have! Do you have the product link somewhere?

I agree with all of this! As a matter of fact, my golden pothos just lived in water now because it's so thirsty. I've started growing my fittonnia in no drainage glass vases so I can water them less and they look so nice. Less work as I accumulated more plants
