Haven't had many chances to get out through the winter but should have some new footage soon. Went out for a few hours last weekend and was skunked. This warmer weather and warm rain should turn them on...

I usually put in close to where I'm fishing for the day and never had any problems but some of those places were a bit sketchy. What part of the lake do you normally fish?

@jdbassin i mostly fish priest but when i go to old hickory i usually go to drakes creek area.

@jdbassin are you fishing up the lake? When I saw the title, I thought you may have been below the dam.

I use to fish lower end of lake a lot but moved to Trousdale County so I normally put in at the ramp under 231 bridge but before I moved I would use shutes branch and cedar creek ramps and never had any issues.

@Steelin2011 when I fished below the dam I would use Heartland Park ramp and the one right below dam

Thanks, most of these catches were from Saturday, they were hitting the buzzbait pretty good. Now comes the 2 ft. Drop of lake for almost a month..River Time!

No i should have. I tried to fish mouth of laguardo. Caught two small bass on Friday went downtown Nashville on river and we caught 60-70 Saturday wife and i went out for a short time and sunday was horrible.

Going to Beech creek on 13th and carol county 1000 acre lake 14th-17th. Have vacation to burn

@geraldringham8432 the river is where it's at this time of year, and really most of the year. Haven't tried the river by 231, curious if it's as good as below old hickory dam.

I use to fish the lower end of lake a lot but just moved up river around highway 231. I like it up here, not as much pressure.

What ramp do you use?

@@jdbassin Well I usually put in at Gallatin, somewhere near Lock 4 park, but this weekend I'm wanting to drop in around Hendersonville, maybe Sanders Ferry. I've thrown it all, spinner bait, chatter bait, top water like buzz baits. The only thing I'm not great at is worm fishing like senko, texas rig, ned, etc. I've thrown and skipped jigs but never caught anything...if anything I spook the fish away in old hickory. Any pointers would be awesome. This weekend I'm thinking about fishing the drakes creek area maybe.

Drakes Creek is a good place to go but it also gets a lot of pressure. Right now during spawn is tough, when it gets closer to June and post spawn throw what you have been and you should do fine. Also if you want to get away from the traffic, try up river US231 area. I do that to get away from pressure. Hope this helps, let me know how you do. Might have to plan a trip with ya sometime.

@@jdbassin Yeah man, sounds good. I'll check out upstream. I'm not sure I'll make it all the way to 231, because that's like MM 262 and I'll be all the way at MM 222 this weekend. I will definitely head as far up stream as I can, but my boat maxes out at 47mph so that may take me an hour via the water to get up there. Any other time I'd put in on that side of the lake, but my hands are tied this week.

I never run that far with mine, I'll just drop in up there. My boat maxes at 47mph also. What kind of boat do you have?

I am, mainly fish Old Hickory Lake since it is so close to me.
