I was born profoundly deaf. I wore two hearing aids when I was 18 months old. I was raised in a mainstream school with a deaf program. My first communication method of approach was SEE/TC at 3 years old. I first learned ASL at the Deaf Camp at 7 years old. Then I joined a Deaf school and learned ASL in my 5 grade. After I graduated from high school and went out of the world. I got new two hearing aids after broke at 18 years old, I struggled with hearing aids my whole life. I decided to receive a cochlear implant at 27 years old before I became pregnant with first child. I wore one hearing on the other ear and CI together for 8 and a half years. I got a second CI on the other ear from the hearing aid at 36 years old. I can hear two cochlear implants to match and balance sound in a noisy environment with more than one CI and one hearing aid together. I'm happy with two CIs full of the sound field. Thank you for sharing your experience with CI.

I understood about 1/3rd of the discussion. I’m a bit rusty on my understanding since it’s been so long but I understand the generalization of what he was saying during most responses, not all.

This makes no sense the interpreter needs to then voice to the interviewer what was signed.

Jared it designed for you to practice interpreting - you interpret what she says then interpret into English what he says...

Hi! I would love to use this with an interpreter that I am mentoring for some practice. Do you happen to have a transcript of the conversation?

Would someone be able to provide a transcript of everything David says, or add to/correct the one below? David’s transcript: “Hi, my name is David Cameron. I’m going to the doctor today for my yearly check-up. I’m sweet(?). I’ve never had any problems, and the visit with the doctor today should be a short visit. . Great. I feel good. Life is going well. . Not really, no. I just want to make sure everything still looks good. . Great. Thank you. . No. Smoking? No, I don’t smoke. . No. I would say that on a weekly, basis I tend to have one to two drinks. . Sometimes, I do great. But sometimes, I am lazy, you know. Sometimes eating is just difficult. I try to eat my vegetables and proteins; I really do try. I recognize my sweet tooth(???) ________? I workout for 30 minutes every day. . The nurse told me that she’s concerned about my blood pressure. We need to lower it? Are you concerned about that? . Okay. How do we lower the blood pressure? . Really, when I sleep it’s always difficult; I’m constantly tossing and turning. I’ve always had this problem, so I’ve never been concerned about it. . Wonderful, yes, I would like to do that. Is there medicine that can help with this problem? . I see. Interesting. Yes, if you don’t mind, I would like to go forward with the sleep test today. . Hmmm. No, I don’t think so. Thank you so much.” --Also, how would the terp sign “vitals”? Would you just sign: “your blood pressure, your breathing, etc.”? --Just a thought: it might also be nice to provide a companion video to these interactive interpreting videos. A video of the interpreter interpreting both ways, so that we might compare and learn from them. Just a thought. Thanks!

What’s disappointing about this video is, it would be nice for Interpreters to watch the video with the Interpreters voice that could be on or off, to perfect our voicing skills. Just s suggestion. Hugs
