This kind of looks and sounds like a SaGa game with a greater focus on character interaction and story. Neat! I'll have to keep an eye out for it during sales.

Way late on this, but World 5-3 (Jotunheim - Terrible Cold) is a great place to steal-farm a thief type into amazing stats. Just keep track of names and the stealable stat, then throw 1 or 2 monsters into the one you want for a bigger pay off. Do this for three monsters, then just kill for grind exp. Repeat.

I never did finish this game. Might pick it up on the Switch and these tips will actually help a lot! Thanks.

Playing the standard ps4 version now. Great game, but wanted to play the 2d mode. Apperently only playable on the definitive version. Which brings the next problem, play the graphically far superior standard ps4 version or buy the game again for the extra content and play the blurry dull coloured Switch version. Hated it on Zelda as well. The colours and image were all softened up by the lack of contrast/sharpness. Like the screen was hidden behind a layer of mist. Guess i'll keep playing the standard version for now. Hard to unsee the much sharper image with much more vibrant colours. Perhaps if i really love the game i can buy the definitive version for the 2d mode.

🤔 I don’t agree on the voice acting the lore of the game is the old world (Europe) several hundred years ago, North American voice actor’s don’t work in a game like this they sound really out of place & are only being used to sell the game in that market place European voice actors should have been used ….

FF9 boss theme is by far the best you are a massive kawck. You know nothing about music... FF7 in top3 ? WTF it's like Majora's mask vs other Zelda it's no match

I don't think there's any such thing as a bad final fantasy track. The games might vary in quality but the music is pretty consistently great.

FF6's boss music gets upstaged by The Fierce Battle.

FF3's boss music really makes you realize how much of a genius Nobuo Uematsu is even within the absolutely crippling limitations of the Famicon.

I disagree, FF8 music is went it all went to shit. In my opinion the only good track is maybe "Man with the Machine Gun" everything else is horrible tier.

I still have this game for my 3ds. I played until I got to some crystal land place then got bored and stopped playing for years. I aim to get back into it and finish it now that I dusted off my 3ds.

Playing this for the first time. I accidentally targeted an ally and killed them. So I am screwed out of the ending for that one mistake?

If I had to rank the boss theme (no remixes) : 1 - Force Your Way - FFVIII (who else really ? Also I might add the Black Mages remix is incredible) 2 - Fight On - FFVII 3 - Saber's Edge - FFXIII 4 - The Decisive Battle - FFVI 5 - Boss Battle - FFXII 6 - Boss Battle - FFIV 7 - Batte 2 - FFIII 8 - Ennemy Attack - FFX 9 - Battle 2 - FFV 10 - Battle 2 - FFIX (as much as it pains me, love the game one of my top 3 FF games, but I really don't like the boss theme)

I think I've seen the FF7 boss theme called at least 3 different titles so far.. Fight On as latest, but then Those Who Fight Further, and Still More Fighting. Same meaning of course in all cases, just an 'oh right!' moment.

this game has the best battle system I've ever played. It's simply addicting.

It astounds me that they brought DQ11 to America and kept turn based but FF7R had to get a flashy, stylish, redesigned action combat system for the Ritalin chomping Americans we evidently are. I'll be salty about the remake until Square eventually goes under because they seem to possess a fondness for making poor business decisions and grossly misunderstanding their fan base.

I loved watching this because, as I went on, it became more and more apparent that you were going to rank them in nearly the exact order I would. Wow, we must have pretty similar tastes in these. Definitely agree with your #1,2 and 3 slots in that order. I also like that you articulate some things about these tracks that I hadn't before. I never had really thought about how I strongly prefer the FF4 boss theme over the FF6 one, but come to think of it, I do. And like you said, the shortness of the FF6 track is an issue...it's a great song but it ends up getting too repetitive, especially in a game that is one of the longest, most complex games (and has some very long boss battles.) Same for FF5, very underwhelming especially relative to the complexity of that game's gameplay and world, it just didn't seem fitting. I also conspicuously noticed the way FF1 and 2 lack boss themes and FF3 has the first one. I haven't formed impressions of the boss themes from FF10 onward because I have yet to play those games; I've heard the themes, but I don't think I can really form an opinion until I play a game because a good boss theme is one that you aren't sick of after playing the whole game. (This is where FF6 and FF5 falter but FF4, 7, and 8 still go strong, and I would say 9 too.)

FF12 boss theme so low? You clearly didn't do the legendary optional bosses....Yiazmat gives you a 1-hour version of it.
