Also need to be VERY Careful replacing the primaries to the heat ex manifold. On older or abused boilers the manifolds can be very brittle. P. S. The copper slip is suppose to go between the burner plate and heat exchanger as they expand and contract at different temperatures due to them been dissimilar metals!

You can fit a plastic or brass diverter valve to any mk1 or mk2 ecotec in any order.

Vaillant has been the same tried and tested tech for 30 years. Has been remastered like 3 times whereas Bosch seem to be releasing a new line of models every other year. 12 years of warranty is no good if you’re calling them out more frequently to repair things. The insides of the boiler are different. Vaillant have a stainless steel heat exchanger which I’ve never seen any problems with whereas Bosch use an aluminum one which I’ve seen fail many times. The Bosch customer service are VERY finicky with their warranty too. Took a customer 2 replacements of the heat exchanger for Bosch to finally admit it’s a design issue and part is made in China. They also quibble about water hardness whereas vaillant does not. Vaillant made in Germany which is a bonus. Lots more robust metal parts inside too whereas Bosch uses more plastic components. The filter design is better on vaillant too - takes up less space but bosch’s is a great big tall thing sticking out the top. If you’re set on Bosch, go for their CDI combi. It’s their most reliable. Otherwise, get a vaillant. Better quality.
