I love all animals, and agree that the water is the sharks' domain, and that people visiting their domain, i.e. swimming in the surf, should be aware, respectful, etc. As a child and all the way through my early thirties, before I got married and had my son, I used to go night swimming in those waters pretty regularly. I also used to go wade fishing at dawn in waist-deep water in the murky surfs all over the Texas coast with my dad and uncle, from as early on as 8-years-old, with stringers of caught fish (speckled trout, flounder, etc.) tied to my belt. Not because I didn't know about sharks, but because I really just didn't think the chances of being bit were high enough to worry, and, luckily and thankfully, I never got bit. I also used to want to be a marine biologist (until I found out how little money they made) with a very focused fascination of sharks, so I'm very well aware of marine life behavior, and particularly that of sharks, and the one point I'll make about that bull (and others like it), is that it absolutely poses a huge threat to all beach goers, including children, who don't fully comprehend the inherent danger of swimming in close proximity to these animals. Obviously, most sharks would rather mind their own business and hunt for their natural prey, but I'm now to the point in my life where I won't even go much further than knee-deep in the ocean, and don't want my 11-year-old son to, either (yes, I understand they can still bite in knee-deep water, but the chances of lethality are significantly diminished), because it's just not worth the inherent risk to me anymore. However, that being said, I believe they should, at the very least, tag aggressive bulls like this one, keep track of them, and make swimmers aware of when they're near, just like they do with grizzlies in Yellowstone (when the bears get near public areas, they send out rangers to keep everyone safe, including the bears). I know more than most that the great majority of sharks have zero interest in humans, and will actually steer clear, but some, and particularly bull sharks, because of their extreme levels of testosterone, are not only unafraid, but are more than happy to chomp on whatever is convenient, including children. It would be stupid of me to say that this is the same bull that attacked those people in that area a few days ago, but it's not altogether implausible. And, what I do know is that once a shark (whether it be a white, tiger, bull, etc.) begins to accept humans as potential prey, or isn't scared of potential repercussions from interaction, there's a high likelihood it'll bite people again.

1) Can air and sea drones please be set up to help secure beaches near designated booths attended by life-guards (for viewing drone- cameras on multiple live- stream screens & to operate in-booth drone controls)? ~~~ ALSO ~~ 2) Integrate regulations related to 🚩DREDGING🏊 (replenishing eroded beach sand), to insure that increased shark access & bait-fish attraction isn't accidentally created where and when swimmers will be nearby!!! ~~~~~~~ Ocean swimming isn't just important to the tourism industry, but also to the health & pleasure of local populations. 🏖️

Learn to live w the sharks being there or stay out of the water. They don’t have a Walmart to go to for groceries. Meals are hunted and humans are on the menu if energy is low and it needs to eat. I respect them they survive and have for centuries.

Thank you for reasonable reporting. I’ve been going to panhandle beaches since I was born; we know sharks live there. We know it’s always a risk if you swim in the gulf. We watch the flags and listen to authorities. I hate that random joes from all over seem to be screaming “why don’t they do something about this!!!” I hope the injured vacationers keep healing well ❤

From the looks of the video, they were chasing the shark with the jet ski and the shark turned and aggressively, of course protected itself. I don't understand why people watch something and they just believe what the news says instead of actually looking with your eyes and seeing what's going on

Add to side effects of beach "renourishment": Shark attacks via 1) direct access channels (esp to areas between "sandbars"), and 2) bait-fish populations created near recent dredging
