Everything is damn near perfect. I'm a happy boy. Nothing 'caused' it. It seems that sometimes a tendon or two contracts. I was told it's possibly hereditary but I know of no one in my family tree who had such a condition. Never painful. Absolutely rigid. I could hang my water bottle using the finger as a hook. Took almost a decade to finally curve enough that I couldn't type well. Mine was the S key finger. When I reached the point where I couldn't get to the W key and kept slipping off the S key down onto the Z or X keys I knew something had to be done. I am very grateful this new enzyme dissolving procedure had recently been approved for general use. The procedure is easy, almost painless with instantaneous results. Should another finger or two start to curve I would eagerly do it all again. I'm still wearing a device at night in order to keep the finger fully extended. It seems that when one sleeps we tend to curl our fingers. Several times a day I push the finger backward to keep the tendon stretched as much as possible. I was told there is a chance it will try to contract again. Fully functional. Couldn't be more satisfied. The VA hospital did a great job. Yes, I'm a vet from the Viet Nam era. I had no choice. Living in the days of the draft was horrifying. One never knew when one's name would be on the list. These were the days when regardless of one's deferment classification there was a good chance to get called up. Even during my college days, I was drafted by the army 4 times. Each time there were cutbacks in the numbers of fresh, young, innocent, naive boys needed, I was included in the cutbacks. I couldn't take the pressure anymore nor did I want to go into the army so I was just barely able to sign up with the Navy reserves. Spent a year at home but then my time came to go on active duty. Still wound up in Viet Nam. It was all a horror story every day. I was able to survive but not thrive for 11 months. Long story short regarding the harassment of my superiors reached a peak I could no longer endure. I played my Ace card. Came out of the closet. The harassment changed and continued. I was protected by my Chief Petty Officer. Knowing him as I did I would have never thought he would be supportive. Remember, this was way the hell back in 1967/68. It was an ugly ordeal but I survived. Not all wounds are visible. The VA has set me up with a psychologist. Therapy is keeping me alive. Never suspected those horrible days would wind up being the reason I have such tremendous health care in my 'golden' years. All in all, I am a mostly content geezer. Hope all is well with you. Have you watched the other videos of the second procedure? The whole ordeal is recorded from initial injection of the enzyme to the fitting of my cast.

Thanks. Wasn't annoying or troublesome unless I was trying to put on a glove. Now, that was a challenge. It was when I couldn't type properly that I knew something needed to be done. I salute the Dr.s and assistants at the SFVA Hospital. All aces.
