Ford's decision of making Hydrogen FuelCell vehicles is a right decision. Hydrogen is already cost competitive compared to petroleum fuel in India, Petrol costs more than 100₹/L and the average fuel economy of petrol cars is 14-20 km/L which means that it costs 7.14-5₹/km, now let's compare it to green Hydrogen, green Hydrogen manufacturing costs is 300-330₹/kg, it should be available to consumers for approximately 500₹/kg and a Fuel cell car like Toyota Mirai can hold at least 5.6kg of Hydrogen and it can run for 650km before needing a refill which means that fuel cell vehicles cost 4.30 rupees per km (500 rupees x 5.6 kg / 650 km), Hydrogen is cost competitive here in India without any government subsidies because petroleum fuel is expensive, Indian government has launched National Hydrogen Mission and they may or may not provide subsidies but they are encouraging Hydrogen fuel and many public and private sector companies like GAIL, L&T, ADANI Enterprises, Reliance Industries are investing billions of dollars for producing affordable Hydrogen and their aim is to achieve manufacturing cost of 1$/kg for Green Hydrogen in less than a decade. Lack of Hydrogen refueling stations is the only reason because of which Hydrogen couldn't replace petroleum fuel. Toyota Mirai is the only Hydrogen FuelCell car for sale in India but it is expensive because it is a new technology and people don't buy it because of lack of Hydrogen refueling stations. Indian government is working with public and private sector companies to solve the infrastructure issue of Hydrogen. We should see increased adoption of FuelCell vehicles in a decade when infrastructure will be available.

@@automotivesociety9 I really don't understand Toyota's styling. They put things in/on the LS that would NEVER be seen on a Century and, yet, they should both be considered to have similarly sophisticated users. My old LS has smooth, flowing lines and an understated, even elegant interior. Has Toyota lost its way or are they targeting a very different potential buyer?

Toyota sales are losing ground. The company is heavy in debt. With Toyota late in recognizing the EV revolution, I feel their only markets remaining will be the US and Japanese market.

Toyota made a strategic mistake by sticking to hydrogen when hydrogen wasn't viable because of lack of hydrogen stations and the cost of hydrogen. Toyota stuck with their hybrid that originally gave them the lead in EV. Now its gas cars have declining sales and they are playing catch up in EV. The latest is a joint venture with BYD for EV in China. From a market leader to a trailing follower, sad.....

hope the rumors are real, I like the rendering photos I hope it looks close to them. If they just keep it a simple hybrid with plug in for all models would keep out the problems from variations. Also it would be way better if made in Japan again to eliminate biuld quality issues. No one does it better then Japan..

At the forefront of Ford's electric vehicle charge, the new all-electric Explorer is the company's first electric vehicle to be built at scale in the new Ford Cologne EV Centre in Germany. Ford in Europe is committed to offering an all-electric portfolio of passenger vehicles by 2030.

It's just a way for Ford to exit the EU market. Ditch the factories that they still have here and just focus entirely on building the F150 and nothing else. Oh well, good riddance to bad rubbish.

Our electric grid can't support a fully electric automobile fleet. We already had to open coal mines to supply enough power for charge stations.

US is shutting down coal fired power plants EVERY year. According the the EIA, electricity from coal is down to 19% (sharp drop from ~60% in 2007), behind nuclear (20%), renewables (21%), and far behind Natural Gas (40%). Coal fired power plants in the US will be near ZERO by 2030.

@@ricardolopezdevictoria1109 I don't know about you, but I've NEVER charged my EV between 4PM & 10PM. Who would, when the rates are ~60% cheaper overnight and 70% cheaper from 8 AM - 4 PM. That's a lot like waiting a few hours to buy gas for $2/gal vs spending $6/gal in the afternoon. And we don't even need to get in line, we just program when to automatically start & stop the charging to get the cheapest rates, when power is plentiful.

Why not have both hybrid and full electric? Ford can't build a fully electric vehicle on a cost effective price. Technology will develop less expensive batteries that will last longer and charge faster. Ford will probably change it's direction with the next CEO.

This new E class is nice especially the outlook but all traditional prestige and elegant elements have been lost. All touchscreen features are good and eye-catching at the very beginning but can't be last longer after a couple of months. Not to mention its reliability and bud-free issues though. Still prefer the old school clock, button switches and knots as well as speedometer and tachometer on the E class.
