Hello Felix. Wow, very educational to understand that 12v can also be dangerous 👍 Did you film this yourself and would it be ok if use a few seconds of the video in a Danish video for sailors about electricity in boats?

Yes, I made it myself, and sure: no problem!

It's really confusing in another tutorial the negative terminal of the transducer is connected to positive of ammeter
@felixolsson87697 ай бұрын
If you connect your power supply the other way around, the circuit will still work. A current will still flow (just the other way). The only difference would be that ammeter and voltmeter would show negative values if we reversed the terminals of the power supply.

These standing wave videos have been so helpful. From high school AP level classes through a class at Rice University complete with all the mathematical machinery of Fourier Series I was still vague on what physically is going on. Thank you!

In my class I can draw the circuits but I cant really build them. Do you have tips to why this is? or like how I can practice buliding them at my home?
@felixolsson8769 Жыл бұрын
Start at the negative terminal of the battery/power supply. Connect your first wire. Follow your circuit diagram and connect each component, one by one until you get all the way round to the positive terminal. Then connect all of the things that need to be in parallel. If the circuit doesn't work, try wiggling each connection to find where the loose one is. If it still doesn't work, try switching out each component, one by one. It can be a bit annoying/frustrating.

I don't why people don't support educational content but I would highly recommend you to keep posting these, they are super helpful.

Had one of these fail in a digital camera while taking a photo. Took the photo, flash went off, kaboom. It blew off the entire top of the camera. Luckily it didn't send any shrapnel towards my face.

Just please do not do this. The screwdriver no matter how big is it, the resistance of it isn't enough to safely discharge it. It will fry the whole strobe board's resistors like how mine did. You need a discharging resistor.
@felixolsson8769 Жыл бұрын
With a discharging resistor, you will not get a spark - which was the point of the video 😁. This circuit was taken out of a very old digital camera I decided to play with before chucking it in the rubbish. Also, shorting the capacitor, in most cases, will not have any effect on the rest of the circuit as the current just flows through the screwdriver. As long as there is no battery still in the circuit. DO take care not to discharge it through your finger, though - it hurts!
@Cmmcortes95 Жыл бұрын
Not to sound dumb, but is the act of releasing a spark like that, discharging the capacitor and if so, what benefit does it have after being discharged? Is it safe to be desoldered? Or can you still be shocked?
@MrWolfSnack Жыл бұрын
These capacitors store and hold a high voltage charge. You discharge the capacitor to be able to desolder it safely without endangering yourself or the device. Or having it short out and explode in your face.
