Thanks, at least now I'm sure that those tops for the sparkplugs need to be removed 😅 all of my vacuumlines have been unplugged. I have the same engine as yours, do you have a clip about that? Kind seem to find proper information about it...

Great video and well put together. Makes me want to go and do my non working ac now. Was this ac system retrofitted to run R-134 and if so are the oil volumes added the same according to the chart?
@OlisGarage
@OlisGarage 5 күн бұрын
@@chrisgosselin5242 I’m running a hydrocarbon based refrigerant (r-12a) is what it’s called. But yes, I used the same amount of oil. If you’re running r134 you could probably look up what the oil to refrigerant ratio is supposed to be in general. There is a sweet spot for the amount of oil. However, I’ve never heard of using different amounts of oil when converting a car.

It seems like on my 84 diesel, I do not have the clearance to lift the pedal-side of the cable off of the hook on the end. The bulkhead of the rain tray is barely rubbing against the top of the pedal at a certain point, any ideas besides removing the entire pedal assembly? (which I think I'll have to remove the steering column and a bunch of other crap)
@OlisGarage
@OlisGarage 6 күн бұрын
You could cut the cable, feed it inside, and then yank it off. Just make sure you think the new one will go on first. Otherwise you still have to do more work. You could also just loosen the 4 screws holding the pedals. That would probably give you enough room

@@zachhannum6498 how do you mean it skips out of time? Yes things will turn ever so slightly. As long as the crank and cam are set, then the distributor gets adjusted later

@@OlisGarageSo currently my flywheel dot is lined up, cam is lined up with valve cover. When I go to tension the belt the dot on the flywheel either moves forward a little or back a little which no longer lines up with the mark. 1982 Rabbit Pickup 1.7L

@@zachhannum6498 is it a tooth off? Or less? If it’s a tooth off, then readjust the belt. If it’s less than a tooth off, then that is just the slight slop/error in the system and there is nothing to be done.

You have said that the torque for the oil pan fasteners should be 11 ft-lbs even though the manual says 15 ft-lbs. I will be using the new rubber gasket as well and was wondering if it is true that the torque should be reduced to 11 ft-lbs. This is for a 1985 VW Scirocco. Great video, by the way!

Just one question re. transmission fluid change and my 1988 gti cabriolet. Followed your steps but when it came to fill up the transmission with the car jacked up as high as it would go, i could not get the full 2 litres in and it started dripping out after about 1.5 litres went in. This was after draining for 10 mins with the car level. Any ideas why?
