I think that estate is also where the Libertines shot their video for "What Became of the Likely Lads". Plus you made me feel very nostalgic for East London when you started out from Stratford/Canning Town, cus I used to live in that neck of the woods until the summer of 2020!

Hey Amy, welcome back! This video was well worth waiting for. I hadn't actually watched this series, but you do a great job of highlighting the important bits and I love your commentary. You're so right about the way the characters are portrayed, particularly the women (although I did wonder if that could be the writers subtly criticising misogyny and deliberately being thought-provoking?) The Gemma/Tom/Billy love triangle reminds me a lot of Dawn from The Office, where she was going out with that sexist pig Lee who didn't give a fuck about her feelings or respect her as an autonomous person, and we were all screaming "PICK TIM, PICK TIM!" We saw in the finale she did make the right choice and go for Tim, and I think Ricky Gervais said in an interview they deliberately left that as a cliffhanger - we saw their kiss but we don't know if they lived happily ever after or not and you just trust and hope they dared to be happy. I hope Gemma and Billy do too. That being said, I'd love to see a storyline in a book/film/TV show where a woman can be just happy being by herself and not needing a bloke at all! I think single-by-choice women are severely underrepresented in fiction.
