I have tried a few competitions over the years, such as the voice and x factor aswell as many online competitions and I have done okay. Close but no cigar 😂 It's a hard place to succeed but I have gathered a small following here on youtube and I am grateful for those that support me here and on my live gigs. It's taken a very long time to build the following I have, but it's very difficult to get folks to share and subscribe. Many people watch the videos but don't share or subscribe, which makes building things up quite difficult. Life is very busy for me, freshly divorced and having to struggle through life paying the bills on my own, so time is a big issue also now. As much as I would love to pursue things further, I am just making the most of the time I have available and enjoying it. To survive I have to work and unfortunately I have to work like most others for more hours than allow me to pursue a career in the music world. As long as my videos make people smile or bring some comfort to their lives, I am happy that others gain something from listening. I always say, if I can make someone smile or bring them some comfort, everything I do is worthwhile.. No amount of money or fame could be as important as that. Music is something that brought me through some of the hardest times in my life. To be able to bring that to others will always be the most important thing to me.. Hi Jason, firstly thank you for your kind comments and for subscribing to the channel. To answer your question about emotional performance. I have lived a bit of a life and been through a lot of emotionally challenging times, as I'm sure a lot of people have. The world isn't a very nice place sometimes and people and situations can be very cruel. I've dealt with most of these times alone and managed somehow to keep going rather than giving up. Music has helped me through most of my life and when I sing emotional songs, I try to think of a memory that I can associate with the lyrics and kind of relive that moment in my mind whilst I sing. I do sometimes have difficulty keeping the emotions under control and maintaining composure and have broken down mid song while recording. I think the key is acceptance of the memories I attach. Because you can manage the emotions of things you have accepted easier. The only advice I could give is to keep practicing the songs until your mind finds a way to deal with the memories or situation that you're reminded of by the lyrics or the the music. Choking up on words is just a proof that you're human. Sometimes that can add to the overall impact it has on the people who listen. Thanks again for the comment and good luck with your singing!
