I just thrifted a top this morning that I’m going to make more wearable for me too. Great video!

Wow, I mean just wow👏👏👏 This was on my feed and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Thank you for sharing with us and yes it can still be loved and appreciated. Who says it must be perfect??!!!🥰 I’ve sewn and crafted my whole life and recently enjoyed the pool of quilting I’ve dove into!!! So far 3 complete all my own ideas and patterns for each person. 1st two were tied and the 3rd was raggedy. Anyway keep on sharing, encouraging and teaching us!!! ❤️😀

Thank you for sharing all your lovely quilts with us. I'm going to pull out my older flannel sheets and start using them for backing as yours look so soft.

Wow! I love that you just went with your ideas and created beautiful, treasured and imperfect quilts! So much emphasis is on perfection which can steal the fun and joy out of quilt making. Lovely quilts and hand quilting. My very first quilt was hand tied and quite imperfect!

Thanks so much for commenting and for your kind words. I agree with you on the fun-stealing part. I dreamt of making a quilt for years but found it so intimidating that I only admired other quilters beautiful work. By using free stuff I was able to let go and just go for it.

My grandma taught me how to sew by hand when I was five and although I know how to sew by machine and sewing machines are wonderful inventions, I prefer sewing by hand because I have more control over the direction of the seams and size of the stitches, I can get the needle into places machine needles can't, it's meditative, it's quiet, and I don't have to worry about the bobbin running out of thread or birdnesting or adjusting the tension or the motor going gaflooey right when I need it most.

Thanks! I do use a thimble sometimes and sometimes I use rubber finger tips ( the ones you get in office supplies stores). I do find that a thimble slows me down. I can relate to your comment about a loud sewing machine😅. I find that I have to lean into such an awkward angle so my glasses will be at the right distance to see that it is tiring and painful. Thanks for your comment!

I am very impressed with the quilts you made and hand quilted is awesome! I haven't attempted hand quilting yet, but want to try. Thanks so much for sharing your work! I'm somewhat of a beginner too, and haven't done anything too complicated....yet. My grandmother left many of her hand stitched star blocks, nine patch blocks, etc., that I'm finishing -just wish I could ask her all the questions about how she would have finished the quilts. I do like hand tying quilts, but have a special long arm quilter who has finished five for me so far. Onward...

It’s so special to have hand made items left behind for us from previous generations. I wish you smooth sewing as you finish your grandmother’s quilts. Thanks so much for your kind comments and for sharing your experience.

Like you Dara, I also prefer to hand sew even though I am blessed with owning several sewing machines, lately I find them too loud. Do you use a thimble? Than, you for sharing 😊
@DelightfullyDara7 күн бұрын
Thank-you for your comment! I do use a thimble sometimes, but I find they slow me down. More often I use a rubber finger cover - the kind used for handling paper or money - they also help me grip the needle. And... I have a calous on my middle finger too😆.
