I like the idea of these pockets. Rather than stuffing them with food I think I'll put my bear spray in there.

What knot are you guys using for this extra rainfly cord? Im assuming its one that can make it easily adjustable or do you just untie/retie each time?

Just bought my first camping hammock - Jungle Explorer XL with an additional larger Hex tarp and Snakeskins. It's mind-boggling that they're still linking to this video with unanswered questions from 12 years ago and constructive criticism regarding the video quality and lack of beginner's lens for learning the rigging. Hennessy is the most well known tent hammock maker, so this is pretty disappointing. It's not evidence of weakness or "helplessness" to point out that they need to improve their tutorial video.

I used this a few weeks ago in my Safari Deluxe Zip xxl. Nights were around 3 degrees Celsius. I had a ranger blanket (woobie) folded in half underneath this pad because i was nervous about freezing. My sleeping bag is rated to 5 degrees. First night i slept in a sweater but i woke up overheated in the middle of the night and had to remove it. I was very pleased with the performance of this product and the quality of sleep i had on the trip. My friend was suffering each day from a bad night in his tent. It really is one of the greatest gear kits i have. Sleeps great and also allows a covered place to sit and relax too.

This video has the energy of an old veteran who used to stack bodies trying to be patient with his grandson on this camping trip but the little punk just wants to play on his damned gameboy and won't sit still and listen. Maybe this whole thing was a waste of time, but no, no, I promised the girls...

I have been using hennessey hammocks for years and they are very reliable, in Downpours to Snow storms and 15f weather to hot and humid 95f weather. They are great shelter. I remember in a downpour in maine We got setup with the snakeskin in less than 3 mins and I was dry while everyone in our group was still trying to setup and were soaked and wet. They huddled under my basic tarp of the hammock for a few under the rain stopped down-pouring.

Hennessy Hammocks are imho one stop shopping and fulfill the hammock camping needs for an all integrated system for beginner to expert. Thankyou Tom. I notice you were feet angled to right near zipper. Have heard many a discussion on that from several who say: 1. it does not matter, 2) head to zipper side ; 3) feet to zipper side. Do you have a comment on that? Thankyou again. Happy Owner of three Hennessy Hammocks and accessories to match :-)

Great question. I've seen people lay opposite of the way Tom does. If you have the Super Shelter, there is a head and foot end, with the foot end to the right, as I understood it.

I have a Hennessy and I believe the hammocks are set up for a left to right lay with one's head to the left and feet to the right. So whether your head is at the zipper or not depends on which end of the hammock you put your head.

If the space blankets are only a dollar and work so great why can’t y’all just have them already attached to the pad out of the box? Not sure I want to pay all that money for a product and have to add a $1 item to it to make it work better

Unless you're attempting to get a Sun tan, that double bubble is worthless; all you have is a vapor barrier ! It's not much different than laying upon a sheet of (metal) Aluminum foil, which can actually conduct heat away from you. It conducts Electricity to beware !
@JohnB-dr8sk
@JohnB-dr8sk 4 жыл бұрын
It's made for colder weather use, not for "getting a suntan" in warmer weather. It's the same priniciple as using a space tarp or space blanket underneath to keep from getting cold. If you had an real woods experience, you'd know that.
@rudygeorgiamulesandcountry1594
@rudygeorgiamulesandcountry1594 4 жыл бұрын
@@JohnB-dr8sk At first glance, your claims make perfect "logical" assumptions; supported by some common ways of thinking. These are N0T supported by science. Installed in your present manner you have only succeeded in cushioning the screw heads and providing some sound deadening against rainfall. My reference to, "getting a suntan" pertained to allowing radiant "Sun" Ray's into the interior rather THAN reflecting them back toward their source. I did not infer you intended your shelter for warm weather (suntanning) use as compared to cold weather usage. Science dictated that, " whenever a reflective surface direcrly contacts another surface (material) the reflective properties are canceled. IF you take a shiny sheet of metal (or a mirror) and paint it flat black, you can N0 longer see your reflection and it actually begins to absorb radiation. A principle commonly used in creating solar heaters from soda cans here on you tube ! The same thing happens "Immediately" when you cover a reflective pad with your sleeping bag (sorry) ... ! "Radiant" energy, the energy created by your body (or the Sun) can only be reflected directly away from and back to the source ; unless impeded by some other substance/material. At very BEST, ... only the radiant energy escaping completely through your sleeping bag could possibly be reflected back through your sleeping bag to the source creating that energy (your body) to realize any increased sensation of warmth. The same insulative fibres that contain "heat" would prohibit escape of radiant energy (absorption) from the sleeping bag and further prohibit it from returning back to the radiant energy source ( reabsorbtion). IF ... you g@@gle, "how does reflective insulation work", "how to properly install reflective insulation", or "are Radiant Barriers effective" ; you can verify my claims. Websites such as energy(dot)Gov or manufacturers similar to "Reflectix" may prove useful.
