I ride to go fetch groceries every two weeks, and do it as cheaply as possible. There is no other reason. To get between point A and point B and bring item C back. Year around, through winter and summer, rain and sunshine. I'm not one of these fair weather riders that winterize their bike and pull them out every spring to put 400 miles on them and then park them back in the garage.

Riding almost every day for 40 years. In Ireland. Where weather is shit and roads are shittier. Motorcycling is a cure for adhd, amongst other things. Keeps me relatively sane. Wish I had mechanical skills and could do up an old classic but can't have everything. Love my bikes. Love my life on bikes.

This looks like cape town. I really want to do a trip with my father from namibia to cape town.

Yeah this was filmed in a few places near Cape Town on the R44 coastal road and on some roads near George. Definitely consider doing that, it'll be a trip of a lifetime especially if you leave from Namibia down to Cape Town!

Long story short I couldn't afford a motorcycle til I was 18, so I got started late, lol. But now, at 71, after a good ride (so far about most of them) I stand a little taller and walk a little faster. Not trying to be younger, just less "old."

Because each person has a different reason to ride, that’s a great title for the short-film!

"In a car you're always in a compartment, and because you're used to it you don't realize that through that car window everything you see is just more TV. You're a passive observer and it is all moving by you boringly in a frame. On a motorcycle the frame is gone. You're completely in contact with it all. You're in the scene, not just watching it anymore, and the sense of presence is overwhelming."

It really makes me wander sometimes how guys who arnt into motorcycles survives. Idk. Just seems like a strange life. I grew up in a family dealership. Raced. Worked. Rode. Almost Every aspect of my life for as long as I can remember has involved motorcycles. Street. Trail. Moto. Dual. Choppers. Bobbers. Cruisers. Sport bikes. Stock bikes. Cafe racers. New. Old. Vintage. I love them all. At the root they are all motorcycles but they all offer unique riding experiences. Not to sound sappy or anything but I just can’t imagine life without motorcycles. I’d just feel empty

So many in modern times pursue the ultimate "luxury", which comes to mean someone else does everything for you and you play at life in full comfort with little to no risk. A car becomes a king's cushion, it either drives for you or damn close to it. Get too close it beeps at you and shuts the throttle. Because your bored, your almost asleep, your on the phone, texting. You are sure your safe no matter what happens in that car. Sometimes it ends in a big flipping fireball on the freeway but at least its over quick. You should have stayed awake. Your phone IS your life, without it you have withdrawals and panic. I go on 500 mile motorcycle rides, no map, no phone, no GPS, no screen of any kind. I go to find new roads, I cant get lost, Im looking to find what ever turns up. I hate cell phones, there I said it. I dont want a nanny looking after me.

Hi @fredvanleeuwen I recognized the Outeniqua Pass from the 1st seconds of the film... a road I know like the back of my hand. I dance this pass on my Transalp XL650V several times a week between my home Oudtshoorn (my lovely Karoo) and everything between Still Bay & Plettenberg Bay (all of the Garden Route). Only after watching I read the text below and sure enough there it is... You had me before any sound. Then at 2:15 - 2:50 you give the most accurate describe the essence of what riding a motorcycle is. The way you combine the video at fast speed + the calm, leisurely audio of both the narration & music, just further strengthens the true story you tell so well in this video. Fantastic job and a pleasure to watch.
