I personally prefer original Half Life sound track over Black Mesa. Black Mesa Inbound and Unforseen Consequences are 2 examples that are vital to the enviroment and story.

Not necessarily similar to HL: - Fez OST. - Katana Zero OST ("Sneaky Driver", "You Will Never Know", "Coming Down" and more). - 3079 game ("Wander 2, 3, 4" tracks). - 3089 game ("Normal 0, 1, 2") One of them is by Zeropage ("Tranquilizer Jam" track) - The Talos Principle OST. - Subnautica OST (You better go play it to feel how well it fits the game, lol). - Ecco the Dolphin: Defender of the Future OST ("Aquamarine Bay" and "The Tick" by Tim Follin are probably my favorite). - Need For Speed 3: Hot Pursuit OST 1998 (Rom Di Prisco is a genius... Check out "Aquila 303", "Hydrus 606", "Cetus 808", "Sirius 909" (probably the best)). He heavily inspired me to write my own music too! This game is full of cool stuff. - Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon ("Resurrection").

My balls are underrated

while half life does not have my favorite consistant overall soundtrack, it does have my favorite song from a video game, ((sector sweep)) overall though quake II beats it out in my opinion but its a close 2nd and some of the tracks have stuck with me for a while after I first played the game.

I'm so happy you featured my video at the start of the video for the Frutiger Aero playlist. I absolutely love Mirror's Edge and its aesthetics. The soundtrack is so unforgettable to me, and I will always listen to it fotever. What a great video.

I always thought that not enough people talk about Half-Life's soundtracks. Thanks for covering it, since I haven't really seen anyone else make an analysis video on it before. Also this is urelated, but I'd recommend listening to Ultrakill's OST at some point if you haven't already. I believe it to be one of the greatest video game OSTs of all time, and I really hope that more people start to appreciate it for what it is in future.

7:20 There is music in the original game there, it just seems like your music volume is turned down so it's hard to hear over the machinery. Normally "Half-Life10" (I can't be bothered to look up the actual OST name) plays there. In fact Black Mesa even removes some music in We've Got Hostiles. On the second encounter with the military, "Half-Life02" plays in the original game (or at least it did before the 25th anniversary update broke it) while in Black Mesa there's nothing.

Half of the songs are taken from hl1 and half of the remaining songs are ambient stuff, but the other half are bangers. I personally prefer hl1 soundtrack though.

I have no idea how tf Half-Life soundtracks could be underrated... Kelly Bailey is pure music and sound design genius (and like a lot of extremely talented people.. he is pretty humble and modest) And by the way unlike many others he was live-scene musician and this experience could help him for his works and visions.

Great video! It's such a unique work and I'm glad people are still talking about it. I didn't know that Still Alive was actually written for the game. I always assumed it was a pre-existing song that EA licenced. Makes it all the more strange that the song has been removed from the soundtrack on streaming.

fun fact:during my final year of college ,I had to write a ton of notes as it was the only way I could study and learn and I can gladly say that ME AND MEC soundtracks especially KATE helped me immensely in writing my notes PS: YOUR VOICE IS DAMM SEXY
