Fortunately this worked for me, really well. I was able to flawlessly separate each page of my Heart of the Atom Hardcover. With the right amount of patience and care of course. Thank you very much @squirelly Nerdy Jess

Wow, thank you for this--your video is informative and well-edited. My great-grandfather was a bookbinder and my grandmother worked for Appleton-Century Publishing in Manhattan. I recently found an Appleton-Century dictionary set on eBay that looks faded, and I can't wait to restore it!

I did this with a piece of strong flat cardboard on a Dreamcast game manual that i thought was beyond saving and it turned out a lot better than expected, the only page i didn't get to seperate cleanly was one i tried to seperate by pulling at it when i first got the game... which only shows that you should try this, you really have nothing to lose, Thank you!

I wish title pages were still written as short summaries of books. I like to purchase books at thrift stores and often they're missing their dust-jackets, which drives me inside to the introductions and forwards pages, which are not always concise and straightforward. The typesetting on the vintage books you shared is so beautiful!

I got a paperback watch manual in the mail the the USPS decided to kneel on I think. Unfortunately the spine which is about 3/8” thick and 5” tall was bent about 2” from the bottom and the paper tore from the spine. Any suggestions how to fix this? Most videos talk about vertical spine repair not horizontal. Thanks!

"Just because something is old doesn't mean it's valuable." Thank you for clarifying that. I work as a coin dealer. I've been collecting for most of my life, and most people seem to think that, for example, bronze coins minted during the late Roman Empire must be valuable because they're thousands of years old. But we have a bucket of them; they're extremely common. When I started collecting books, I found out about this very quickly too.

Thank you so much! I was at our local new/used book store and they had the new Sara J Maas book for 2.99. It is 6 months old. But the duct jacket was damaged. So I picked the least damaged copy…or so I thought. When I got home and took the book out of the bag i felt the text block slip in my hands, but the hardcover hadn’t moved. I’m glad I found your video! Thank you!!!

Ooh, I can’t say that I do. There is a book cleaner solution, but I don’t think that would help in that situation. Sorry!

Wow! What a great way to improve the perfectly fine and beautiful but worn reading copies that can be found everywhere! As your Fountainhead example showed; one is left with a very nice hardcover copy with lovely spine. A nice way for anyone to begin to create a beautiful "everyman" library. Thanks for sharing!

Just recently found your channel. Great list here. Stolen Focus has been on my TBR for a while. Why We Sleep is one of my favorites. I highly recommend Change Your Thoughts, Change your Life by Wayne Dyer (life changing for me), and also Digital Minimalism by Cal Newport. I’m going to check out Darrin Brown too.

I heard of someone who had a worm crawl up into his brain, eat some of it, then die. It was on the news recently. The worm was in his head for many years. Maybe the worm didn't have a book to go to.

Jess, Thank you from the bottom of my heart sooo much for all your amazing videos! They've been quite informative and also helped me in times of extreme difficulties, like war and more. I've been watching them for a while! I'm a Bibliophile and a multipotentiate (thanks for the new word and the validation regarding this!!!). I too have done many things; my interests very fairly wildly. I have an art gallery that I sometimes open, and a glass studio that sometimes isn't in service because I need to get oxygen and glass -and I'm too busy learning paper marbling or learning everything I can about ASW Rosenbach, or I'm painting everyday or whatever. Thanks for making me feel a bit less alone. I'd be happy to (hopefully) be supportive of your new idea for making money. By the way, even though I REALLY Love Books, this is probably the best or one of the best videos you've ever done, at least from my perspective for whatever that's worth ( and I've seen all or almost all of your videos except your new ones). A lot of bibliophiles have varied forms of mental illness. Just read "A Gentle Madness" by Nicholas Basbanes., which is excellent. Thus I think speaking to bibliophiles (and perhaps bibliomanoacs, biblioklepts, etc) about mental illness works perfectly. They fit together perfectly. A really great important video Jess-BRAVO!!! I'm glad your husband's doing better and I wish you both happiness, health, authenticity, and blessings; and may your love for each other grow wondrously and beautifully.!!! Shalom

Delightful video, niece. I am always in awe of the architecture in Europe. The cathedral offers up a bewildering "HOW?". The graveyard shames what we have come to now, a little brass plate on the ground, hidden by overgrown grass. No one will be visiting them a hundred years from now. Is any of your soundtrack done by your talented Hubby? Keep up the great work. XO
