You can not run that engine without a thermostat you will crack the block . For sure lake water is to cold coming in to the block.
@MasonKrug17 сағат бұрын
In most places I would agree with you but where I live in Florida the water never gets that cold. I’m not saying it can’t happen but I’ve never ran a thermostat in a boat and I’ve never had a problem. Thanks for watching!

Been following you for a while now I really love your channel but do you think that maybe you have a fuel pressure problem maybe like a pump I know that a friend of mine had a souped-up truck one time and it ran fine when it idled but as soon as you gave it gas it wouldn't do anything he put a high pressure pump on there and whoa what a difference that made also I think that is one good-looking boat
@MasonKrug17 сағат бұрын
Thanks man I really appreciate that! I don’t think it’s a fuel pressure issue only because it should rev up until it runs the carburetor bowl dry if it was a fuel pressure issue. I’m not quite sure what it is but it’s getting a whole new fuel system so we shouldn’t have any problems after that. I appreciate the advice though.

I'm about at the same point with my old Sea Ray 200cc as you are. Probably my boat is worse.. The boat runs good but got some bad/rotten wood inside. I bet my stringers are gone and really doesn't want to put any effort in it. Knowing that rebuilding it properly will take crazy amount of work and time and it just isn't justifyable. I think you did it good enough with the floor aswell as with the rear seat bench aswell. No point to overwork it since you probably got more issues under the flooring. It is always the hardest to determine the correct amount of effort for me since I want everthing to be perfect but good enough truly works fine aswell. Drivetrain however is where you are supposed to put the cash and effort into 🙏 /Best regards, Tobias (Sweden)

Seen this boat on market place not too long ago, nice looking boat. Few things iv been around boats my whole life, my dads a boat mechanic here in central FL, we have seen all sorts of boats come through our shop, usually when the floor is rotten that means 90% of the time moisture got trapped between the hull and floor and stringers are either starting to rot or are rotten, when this happens the stringers where the motor bolts in are first to go. So I would definitely take a little drill bit and drill Into a stringer to see if you have nice wood or wet wood. Problem with overlaying the floor is your still leaving that rotten wet material there and trapping it between the new material, which in the end is going to cause the boat to be waterlogged. I know it’s a bigger job than you initially thought but do yourself a favor and cut that old floor out completely let the boat dry out and then lay new marine plywood in there. It’s also adding weight to your boat now which puts more strain on the motor. For example we had a customer bring a boat to us in the past had a 4.3 mercruiser ho, complaint was boat didn’t plane like it use to and seemed low on power, come to find out the floor was rotten and they had someone re do the floor and they just layed new wood on top of the old floor, well the boat became waterlogged and was now too heavy and stringers were rotten we advised the customer to either get the boat redone or part ways with the boat since it was now a money pit. Would hate to see this being the case with you. Other than that love seeing the progress on this project, and I also have the same boat as you except mines yellow and I had to get the whole boat redone cause it was rotten and floor was done the wrong way

Looking good 👍🏼
@deksea19 күн бұрын
I understand the reason you went with the overlay scheme, Ive got no real issue with that but using what appears to be regular untreated plywood is going to be an issue going forward, It will start to degrade almost immediately. if you keep the boat undercover when stored and out of the weather otherwise and dont let any wet swimmers on the boat, youll have your best bet for prolonging the floor life.

Yes sir it was. The original plan was to seal it with resin but I knew that I was going to have to screw it down and sand the joints after the fact, my thought process was if I leave a spot open in the resin, water would get in and it wouldn’t be able to escape anywhere and it would actually make it rot faster. Maybe I’m completely wrong on that, I really have no clue it was just a thought. Also if I just did resin and the floor were to flex it would just crack anyway so I decided against it. I do know a lot of people that have just done it like I did and it lasted for several years, so we’ll see if that’s the case for me. Thanks for watching and the advice!

@@MasonKrug Im sure you can get several years out of this setup. And easy enough to re-do if you decide on having something more durable.
