I would never try to detract from Jim Carrey's performance and just sheer talent, but I felt Jeff Daniels made the movie. Being able to be, essentially, the straight man, and not steal scenes from Jim.

@@asundergrowth short form improv is comprised of (mostly dumb) games. Long form improv is what Ben and Thomas and others are doing now (and many have been doing since it was invented in the 60s). Yes, definitely look into it. Big difference.

Uncle Roger(Nigel) is a genius & fantastic! He adopts the Asian sound of broken English even though he can speak English perfectly. He doesn't try to hide his origins like some people do, I've noticed, whenever I'm around bad cooks, I almost shout HIIIIYAAA!😅 He rubs off on you & he is a comedy genius as well as a pro chef! The lines he comes up with are funny AF! When he says "sorry Children" he kinda has the same sound tone as George Takei! Genius way of sounding hilarious, but the joke is on the western people. It's like Nigel is fully aware of how westerners perceive how the sound of Asians speak when they use English. I always enjoy his content. Normally when people say they are 37 today, "oh, Happy Birthday" & he says, no, I'm 37, today. WTF does that mean?!

In Howies mind this was a complete disaster. Just rewatched the appearance. The audience laughed a lot…Carson kept him on a long time they even ended up bumping someone. If Carson was that angry it’s because he himself was eccentric too. There was one flat joke at the end but all in all for 1985 pretty entertaining.
