This voltage is then used by a linear charger in the earbud for battery charging. However, even as the earbud battery voltage rises during charging, it always remains lower than 5V. important is how to locate polarity + and -

@@fenlxx821 look for the sign ( - or + ) on the left side of digital multi meter, if shows nothing.. that’s positive, if shows on left side screen - , it means your test probe was on the wrong side of + and -

Friend, I managed to do as you taught with one of the earphones. It was recognized and connected with the smartphone, then I was able to fully charge it. It is amazing! however, the other earphone is not recognized and when trying to connect the battery in the improvised case, all the battery LEDs blink and nothing happens or it starts to heat up, so I take it off quickly. Do you know what it could be?

Yes the preset is 2k not 20 k. First of this setup will drain the battery and the soldered terminals are to be de-soldered to re-charge the battery.

I've made something similar but charging via Arduino nano with parametrizable output charge voltage. This is much simpler. My goal was to train the left earbud because it drains much faster than the right side when charging via their case. Unfortunately nothing changed but at least I didn't make it worse.
