This video was realistic and you made valid points! While I’m doing my research, I’m also planning by taking a few trips before moving, saving money now, and not rushing to move. I’m also making sure that I start to learn the language and securing remote work before I move. Also not being “green” and having unrealistic expectations and realizing that things will be different.

People need to hear the truth. You have to have reliable income that will follow you no matter where you live before relocating. Unfortunately, there are many people who are desperate and wearing rose colored glasses moving to foreign countries and expecting to get by.

I lived in Merida 3 years, and some friends introduced me to a nigerian american expat. He was giving scammer vibes immediately, and the mutual friends kept pressuring me to continue dating him. I stopped talking to him and left their friend group. I personally wont date Nigerian men. I grew up with many of them in Houston but they have proven to not be so trusting and a lot of the men dont seem to care about how they treat women. They are very selfish in my opinion and emotionally immature.

You can do this Kittie. I did this alone a few times. Just make sure your extension cord connections are raised above the floor and anything else /furniture, etc.. a few inches just in case water gets in. If you have any extra tape, run strips along where windows open on both floors. Fans and towels will be great once electric is back and running to help dry up any water or moisture. You will be a pro at this if there is a next time. 👍👍✊

Survived the last one to hit Merida in 2021? My daughter and I were at the Buyan on the 5th floor. The neighbors window blew out and fell into the pool. We grabbed the cat and went down to the lower level. It was thrilling but scary as hell. Can some friends come over and you just have a camp out so you are all together in case you need each other? Maybe just one or two close friends. Just in case communication goes out.

Do you have duct tape to seal the patio door for extension cord and the gas fumes and noisewhile the generator is running on your patio ? You will need the correct extension cord that matches the appliance you want to plug in to it. Look at the generator adapters. You can put patio chairs in pool as well.

Saw this hope it helps: Charcoal, lighter fluid, and an outdoor grill: water may be shut off (facet water) so make sure you fill as many containers as you can, with water for bathing. If you have a pool, the water will be dirty with debris from the hurricane, but you can still use that water the flush your toilet, just make sure you take the debris out. Also, have duct tape, you’ll need it to tape your windows if you don’t have ply wood or shutters. Tape large X’s (at least) across the windows so if they break it can help keep the glass somewhat together rather than flying around your house from the hurricane winds. Stay safe!

I hope the storm is minor, but if not make sure you have plenty of non-perishable foods that you can eat without much preparation. You need snacks, fresh water, instant coffee, a way to heat food, batteries, candles, flash lights, first aid kit…etc. I like to prep general camping supplies bc that is what it’s like to not have power for an extended amt of time.

They have portable solar power generator, you can charge it up from wall outlet or solar panels. This means that if the power goes out you can use the sun to chat it and you can have it charging even while you are using it. Most of them come with panels and a long cord so you can put your panels in the window or run the coard outside while the panels are outside and the generator is inside. All you do is plug your equipment up like you plug it into the wall a d push an on button to turn it on and your in business... 😄

OUR tax dollars are being stolen and sent to foreign countries as trillions of dollars as a slush fund. FLY OUT TO MEXICO> acajudi100 no begging KZfaq of 82 years on this earth. HAPPY i do not have to beg on here for food, drinks, rent or vacations. IT is just greedy to beg, when you are house sitting . wtf Leave these thugs alone or die. I love your videos. God bless you always, and the world. Hola from Queretaro. Over 62 years visiting Mexico, all 0ver the world and all 50 USA states. Keep frozen water bottles for body, bed. pets in and out. Wear a wide brim hat, and loose clothing. See how the Arabs are dressed in the desert. MOVE! YOU are not trees. Carry frozen water bottles for body, bed, chair, car, animals etc. REAL TRUTH. Move to Mexico. Criminals are worldwide. Be alert. Hola from Queretaro. There are African Mexicans. Africans are all over the world. Africa is the mother of ALL civilizations. I was born in Chicago in 1942 Southside, and happy I obeyed my parents. I live in Queretaro now since 2021. I wish you the best, and stay away from drugs, drinks and lust. Be honest. Do not marry, shack, or have babies. Live alone is safer. Hola from Queretaro. I have been speaking Spanish since age 14. Merida was too hot. I never wanted a house in Acapulco, but I rented a home, had a timeshare, rented rooms and apartments. I am a USA Muslim. I am in my 82nd year living in Queretaro since 2021. I was 20 in 1962, when I came alone from Chicago on a 2 weeks vacation to Mexico, from the border down to Acapulco. You are never alone, when nice families are around, and beware of the evil and scammers around. Earthquakes were the deal breakers for not retiring to Acapulco. I always worked, and never asked anyone for anything. I am a giver to nice and honest none beggars, and my 411 is FREE. USA got too dangerous, so I left at 79, for I would have eliminated the John Gacy look alike trying to get into my heavily blocked apartment with a key at all hours of the day and night. I was being poisoned for life insurance, but God warned me, and he took care of the evil demon. God protects me, but I do protect myself also by any means necessary. I have had to protect myself from evil demons, no matter where I live. I pity the fool, who tries to eliminate me. I have traveled all 50 USA states and the world on my own dime from WORKING A JOB, that paid every 2 weeks, overtime, and paid vacations up to 6 weeks. Never needed a go fund to travel. I speak Spanish and other languages since age 14 as a second language. I survived the USA for 79 years and earned all my income there. A nice pension and small savings support me and allows me to help non beggars. I can smell scammers and dishonesty a block away, and then I block their behinds. RENT is all i pay, because it includes everything, maid and security. Since 2021 it has been $672 per month to a present $916 per month. I order stock up groceries etc once a month or two at about $400 or less and delivered to my home in Queretaro. Gifts excluded, since it depends on you, and I prefer to keep that private, but I only am generous to none and honest beggars, who are not scammers or dangerous. I block evil criminals worldwide. CLICK, I am not rich or stupid.

I live in an established neighborhood (90s) that isn’t in the north real estate boom area. I haven’t had more than two outages this year. Knock on wood. Areas with new construction don’t have established electricity networks. It’s where you live, you know? My neighborhood isn’t as new or fashionable, but it’s not getting so much development. The established grid is solid. Choose established neighborhoods. All this new construction is a mess. Landlords/developers will tell you the new construction you’re renting is all set. They’ll tell you anything. I keep seeing expat content that says this electrical issue is universal- not the case. Good luck and stay cool!
