1:29 Yes more variants make it more interesting 3:40 Thanks for pointing out that sometimes, the 5D time- or your infinite space travel sometimes is just needed not to be good in the game, but have fun in the game from the choice freedom curiosity. Next time, you'll need 5D timetravel on a infinite chess board. 5:04 I know clocks are supposed to be somewhat about master-ness, but I find them just anoing. For playing with friends, you want fun together, and not chasing the clock, I have enough chasing the clock in work. So thanks for the "no clock" option, it basicaly makes the 4-th, (temporal) dimension of your game, also infinite. The 3rd Dimension is my distance form the playing board, with a magic remote control, I could travel infinitly far away inside the universe and still play. But I prefer ;-D 30 to 50 centimeters, siting in front of my computer. LOL.

A very unique way to get myself near infinity. And infinitys infinitly more infinite than infinity. And I love chess, so this is much less boring than pure math. At least I now know that a chess game could take at maximum a number a tiny bit smaller than Ω₁. I think you could archive the closest posible aproximation to Ω₁ by not doing 2D chess, but 3D chess and beyond. (of course, every dimensional direction streaches on into infinitly long rows of chess squares) With the added rule that each 2D slice of infinite dimensions chess board is independent, but each 2D slice has to be won seperately by the same player, (by making it the way that black king has to stay on a chosen 2D plane of existence until he would be checkmate on this plane, then and only then teleporting to another 2D existence plane) but on every existence plane, the black King is in a position with forced checkmate in some type of countable infinity moves. And every 2D existence slice has another type of countable infinity of mate in a countably infinite ordinal. By this, I will get a set of countably infinite amount of elements, with each element beeing an countably infinite ordinal, so instead of Ω₁ (the set with an INCOUNTABLY infinite amount of countably infinite ordinals) I get a type of Ω₁-imposter-set (my set is a set with an COUNTABLY infinite amount of countably infinite ordinals) only distinguished from the Ω₁ definition by "IN" in "incountably". So I think this is the closest one could get to Ω₁. Does anyone know how close I would get to Ω₁ by this infinite Dimension infinite board chess? Is the number I just described may be called Ω₀? But anyways I think Ω₁-imposter-set sounds more cool.

The maximum number of moves in a chess game,using the ''50 moves'' rule,is ONLY 5898,5 moves (which means that white plays the last move...!!!)!Where did 8848 moves come from...???!!!

I think the central concept to grasp here is that any strictly descending sequence of ordinals must be finite, meaning that we will always reach checkmate in a finite number of moves

Omega doesn't mean infinite. It just means you can make as arbitrarily long as you wish. Granted, mate in 1 is already mate in omega if there is no clock

I think omega can be thought of as 'pick a number first, if your friend picks a larger number he wins'. No matter how large a number you pick he can just pick a larger number, and so the only way to win that game is to pick omega

I dont think you can extend the omega*2 scenario to omega*omega due to some unprotected pieces reachable by the rook.
@Naviary

@AmericanDiscord
@AmericanDiscord 5 күн бұрын
@@Naviary My understanding if you move the knight far enough away you can move the rook around and sacrifice for the top bishop removing the pin or take the furthest left pawn. I don't think it can be modified for omega*omega.
@Naviary
@Naviary 5 күн бұрын
To get to a position where they can take the bishop, they will be taken first by the white pawn below the bishop. Though it hasn't been proven aggressively. Another argument is the rook could try to prevent the knight from hopping in, but the knight is nimble it can always hop around the rook. And there's at least 2 knight incursion squares, black can't defend both of them for more than 1 move.
@AmericanDiscord

Ahh sorry I am used to white starting on top. Can the rook run south and then threaten the white pawn below the bishop in 3 moves?
@Naviary
@Naviary 4 күн бұрын
@AmericanDiscord It's completely boxed in, it can't reach the white pawn without having to capture a piece and risk being captured itself.

This is interesting and I enjoyed the video, but I don't think it really answers the question from the beginning, since none of these positions shown are possible in a real game. If you limit yourself to just the pieces from a standard starting setup, with these rules and perfect play, what is the longest game you can construct that doesn't go on forever? Have you looked into this? Thank you friend.
