I got a couple cheap ones about 60k miles ago; there is now a clunk when pulling up and down on the rear wheels, so I assume the ball joint is wearing out. The Dempster Highway in Yukon probably shortened their service lives a bit... 😂

My sibling has this little engine in her car. And where the cat bolts to the exhaust manifold it starts to smoke on its surface (where the 3 nuts are visible). She replaced the cat. Nothing changed. I removed the two sensors pre/post catylic and it apeared to not emmit smoke, which made me wonder if there is too much resistance in the exhaust. I put the sensors back in and it didnt smoke... But then she said it started emmitting smoke again after a short trip. I removed one cat plug and she drove it back and there was barely any perceptible smoke (but if she drove it a bit more maybe it wpuld have idk). Oil, water, seems fine, apparently temps arnt going up when it happens. It drives fine (for a little buzz box). Apparently the cap was slightly milky but i never saw it. So my bush mechanics mind is pondering if it is too much resistance in the resonator/muffler/cat .. orr is something that regulates pressure (pcv keeps popping up in the yt world) .. or is there something more laboures causing problems 😅. Just ground it with a self tapper, and hard wire it into your DRL halo lights. Lights on, fans on. My TJ hates sitting with no air flow.

As you have an ST and you’re able to unbolt the entire arm from the rear knuckle. it’s not the same as S SE or SEL, on these cars you need to take rear upper control arm and lower lateral arm bolts out as well as lower control arm that hold the spring. Then You need to press the bushing out with knuckle suspended on a jack lol (good luck😘)

Adding a second comment for the intrepid mechanic - if you're struggling to get the LCA's ball joint into the knuckle, trying removing the upper bolt (21mm) off of the strut where it connects to the knuckle. I wasted a good 15 minutes wrestling with it last night and gave up, found another video call that out and confirmed with a mechanic buddy of mine. I pulled of the top bolt and lightly loosened the bottom, gave me all the play I needed had it installed in 10 seconds. Save yourself the time by trying out that trick.

Is your clunking noise heard from the trunk/ rear passenger window? LOOK AT YOUR BUSHINGS WITH YOUR OWN EYES! This is a ford focus ST It’s an upgrade from SEL model. It has upgraded suspension compared to other focus models. I believe everything is exact same with SEL SE S besides the sway bar links and bar itself, the links are in different locations. My clunk is in the trunk and I have repaired every bar/ link/ bushing in the back left of the car besides this part. Engine and body is at 352k kilometres. Upgrade and do what’s needed this car will last 500k

Thank you for the video! - Others have you lever the ball joint out first, then pull the rear bolts. In my case, I tried this but got stuck around 80% of the way out. I at least proved I could lever them out easily. However, pulling the bolts allowed me to remove the ball joint 80% of the way without levering it, then used a chain and a pry bar to easily pop it the rest of the way out. Currently stuck solo seating the ball joint on the new one, lol, but I'll get there soon enough.

Looking at these for my S550 whiteline state to Tighten them when the wheels are loaded up(car back on the ground) would that not be the same as holding that arm when tightening it up?

I don't know what belt to put on my eclipse I lost mine while driving, v4 eclipse only use 1 belt for power steering and compressor right/? I don't know what code it is.

This 2 bolt one isnt breaking the mount bolts, other STs have just the drivers side mount, and those ones are breaking. Putting one of these aftermarket brackets on a 2 bolt diff is overkill, but who doesnt like overkill

My issue is it looks like that washer that’s is oblong shaped isn’t in the correct place .. thus one of my rear wheels has a lot of camber. I want to loosen it and re-orient that washer / bolt thing. I have a 2010 civic… not a lot of video / info on this

@@FatGuyBuilds my only issue with lifetime stuff .. is I did that with my dc2 or dc4 integra .. and people crashed Into those, so I feel like it’s bad luck. I might do that tho. If they can’t fix the camber with just an alignment I’ll get adjustable upper control arms and try again. It’s better to pay for a lifetime alignment vs 2 separate alignments.
