Thanks for the roundup Kate. I like the shorts. Ps. Have you considered a different mic choice for the videos. It’s very echoey. Just a suggestion. I hope you don’t mind. 🙂

Can anyone parse the difference between the Holland Park dresd and the Silversaga Eleanora?
@TheFoldLine
@TheFoldLine 3 күн бұрын
The Holland Park pattern gives you 14 different ways to make it (including as a top or dress), and the Eleonora Dress comes with a choice of bust cup sizes (A/B and C/D/E). Holland Park is cinched in with elastic, and Eleonora has two options for cinching - elastic or shirring. I hope that helps!

@SyKnife
@SyKnife 4 күн бұрын
It’s more complicated than it seems to have cup options and/or a wide size range. It’s not a situation where they forgot about it or didn’t care to do it. The pattern maker has to make business choices. They would have given that D cup option if it was easy to do. It’s hard to explain in a comment section 🙂

I love the idea of a tie in the same material as the dress, I like the Niven dress from Merchant and Mills a little better, so I’ll probably frankenpattern those. I have been looking for a pattern I want to make over and over and this may be it.

When you were describing the fit of the flora dress, I think what you meant is that it skims the body rather than being closely fitted or loose. A fit that skims the body is kind of a goldilocks zone, imo, and is usually very flattering and comfortable to wear. And I think the word you were looking for in the last pattern, for that sexy nightie type garment is a negligee. ( has a soft g sound, like neg-li-jhay).

Ooh really love that halter dress. Although I'm not particularly well endowed bust-wise I don't really like going without a bra and that elasticated back looks like it could cover a strapless bra. Speaking of which - I'd like to try making a swimsuit and I love Helen's Closet instructions so I think today's pattern might be great for a first go...but on the models it really seems to pull across the chest. Do you reckon it might not do that if you're a bit more of a Flatty? How does it fit you across the bust, @debmadethis?

As a child on hot summer nights back when houses rarely had air conditioning I loved wearing my baby doll pj’s. They were not worn by teens and women. The baby dolls were two piece, bottoms were bikini style and tops had a bit of lace but not sexy in any manner.

It’s disappointing when swimwear patterns replicate the same restricted cup size we see in off the peg swimwear. Around 27% of UK women wear a bra size larger than a D cup.
@pinkpaulasews4929
@pinkpaulasews4929 11 күн бұрын
Hey, it’s my understanding that the cup sizes for sewing patterns is nothing to do with bra cup sizes. It’s the difference between high bust measurement and low bust measurement. My regular bra size is E cup but in sewing patterns B cup works just fine no FBA needed. Perhaps someone more knowledgeable can explain better than me.

@@pinkpaulasews4929 Wow, really? Thank you. I’m a 34G. Does anyone know, would a 34D sewing pattern fit me?
@Yorkygirl59
@Yorkygirl59 11 күн бұрын
@@verylikecheryl It depends on the difference between your upper bust and full bust, and the pattern, if it has cup sizes, will tell you what cup size you need for that particular pattern. You measure upper bust (around back, under armpits and above your bust) without a bra, then full bust with a bra on, then see what the difference is.

Cashmerette has a swim pattern for this month’s club pattern. You can buy just one month and cancel. Their patterns are the best for larger busts and go up to E/F sewing cup size. For reference, a D cup is 4inch difference between high and full bust. They also have a great calculator on their website that you can use anytime.

Fashion, it repeats itself and as much as I wanted to see more coverage and less skin the swing to the opposite is huge. Sadly the current shapes coming out are so unflattering to me personally. Guess I will be sitting out a spell. There will be fashion that answers the need to lovely, feminine, functional and smart…. It is currently not that fo me.
