@CodyWeathers
@CodyWeathers Ай бұрын
The Acoustasonic has a sophisticated Fishman enhancer/"acoustic engine" that makes it sound like a full-bodied acoustic guitar. This onboard engine requires periodic charging, which is different than most acoustic/electric guitars (i.e., acoustic guitars which have the option to plug in to a PA for amplification), which typically just use regular 9V batteries. For more on this guitar see my in-depth review here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/erVkqLumrM2Ynps.html

I'm watching your videos because I basically wanted to learn a little about these cymbals. I just got a sonor drum set from the sister of a neighbor who died. It has a 20" that weighs 2160 grams, an 18", a 12", and 2 hi hats that are 14". Everything is from 1968 and all have zildjian avedis usa stamped with the 3 dots. The drum are missing a few parts but look beautiful turquois sparkle. A man just offered me $800 from one picture alone and I may just sell them but I hate to do things when I am ignorant about them. Thank you for the couple of videos I watched. I'm a little surprised to be honest.

i left a similar message for Rhett. What he doesn’t get, and you already pointed out. Anytime someone says “it doesn’t sound good plugged in”. NO ACOUSTIC sounds good plugged in. Thats the whole point. That’s why everyone is using the Audiosprockets Tonedexter or LR Baggs Voiceprint. They take a recording of your guitar through an XLR or Microphone as you would in a studio. And then the pedal uses that voiceprint when you play plugged into the pedal with your 1/4 inch. This guitar bypasses that entire process. I don’t see why someone would say “an acoustic sounds better”. you can’t use an Acoustic live, that’s how you can tell when guys are just youtube guitarists or if they still play out a lot. This has become kind of the greatest weapon ever for pro guitarists. I have the American models. And I predict every guitarist in 5-10 years will be making videos of how this is the most versatile guitar on the market and everyone should have one. It really is, since everyone uses so many pedals anyway, you can literally back up a touring arena artist with one guitar. You can play all the Acoustic intros, and all the electric parts all with a pickup switch. 🙏

Mine does. It’s also what they make acoustic preamps for. The acoustasonic line, is just overpriced, in my opinion. It was promoted as an acoustic, that would sound and feel, like an electric, while still retaining the sound of an acoustic. They just don’t, unless one has a very good setup. With no mic, or amp, they just aren’t very loud. Or, it’s a quality control issue, because I’ve tried out a lot of them, and some are louder acoustically, than others, while some sound better plugged in. Others are just stale, and lifeless, with bad action. Just like all Fender’s guitars. One can play a hundred of them, and only find 10, that feel and sound good, regardless of the model, from Squires to Custom Shop guitars, compared to the basic American Standards. I think they work better with my solid state amp, than a tube amp, but I don’t remember what Rhett played it through. I’ve found ones, that I like the action on, and work for certain situations, but for the money, I think there are just better options.

@@CorbCorbin if your acoustic pre amp sounds so good why is it always mic’d in studio? If you haven’t recorded ever, no producer would ever plug in an acoustic and use the pre amp. I’m well aware they have preamps. What i was pointing out is that those preamps don’t sound anything like an acoustic guitar, they sound like an acoustic guitar plugged into a guitar amp. That’s why artists used to mic their acoustics even at live shows. The whole point isn’t that you can’t get sound from an acoustic, the point is, no acoustic or folk player likes that sound because it doesn’t sound like an acoustic. That’s why the tonedexter was made, because acoustic preamps are so awful. You might actually like the sound, but it still doesn’t sound anything like an acoustic. Which is why i said “there’s no point in having an acoustic” because you’re just gonna try using pedals or a preamp to make it sound like an actual mic’d guitar. I’m not saying the acoustasonic sounds better than an acoustic. I’m saying acoustics sound Exactly the same as an acoustasonic plugged in, so there’s no point in using an acoustic when you can get the same exact sound from a Chet Atkins or T5 or Acoustasonic. Your taste might be different. But still, no producer has ever chosen an acoustic pre amp over a microphone, there’s a reason for that.

@@BudiPrasetyoHarsono Yes $277 would still be a great price for that guitar. They typically sell used closer to $400 USD median. Very comfortable neck 1.68" nut width. I would never buy a cymbal that has been drilled out for ribbit's !! You have destroyed the cymbal .
@CodyWeathers
@CodyWeathers 3 ай бұрын
In my experience, when properly done (as described around 5:30), it's a stable modification. Furthermore, while I've never personally drilled one to have a before/after comparison, I will say that professionally-drilled rivet cymbals with the rivets out still sound like members of their class and weight (i.e., a 2200g ride with empty rivet holes still sounds like a similar 2200g ride with no holes). So I wouldn't personally be discouraged from buying one in fear that it is damaged either structurally or sonically.

Recently took my Star walnut kit to a rock recording session where the engineer wanted ultimate “punch.” So we came up with the idea for the toms of a G2 on the batter and a hydraulic on the reso. I’m thinking…”this ain’t gonna work. May as well mic up cardboard boxes.” Recorded with Glyn Johns technique…three mics in a nice-sounding wood room. Two Coles 4038s, and a Fet 47. Holy shit! Unbelievable. Added a little compression to pull out the room, but that was it. Wish I had the recordings 😢
