Todd Hanson is a narcissist and a fraud. He has pretended to be suicidal for attention. Do you know him? I do. I went to toe UW with him. He was abusive to women. He helped cover up police brutality when a black associate of his was tortured. This stunt he pulled with Maron is shameful.

You don't know what goes on in other people's thoughts. Even if you were telling the truth, conversations about suicide need to happen. That's the importance here. You should delete this. It's incredibly insensitive to people struggling with depression who felt cathartic listening to this and then going right back to negativity in the comment section.

It’s easy for Todd Hanson because he’s a liar. He’s a narcissist who has used depression for attention. I have not bought shit hook line and sinker like some of the people in these comments since I was 13.

I have some advice for ppl that have never been depressed. If you know someone suffering from it don't think you're going to talk them out of it w/ your sage advice such as, "snap out of it," or any of the other cliches. Don't give advice because it's useless. The only thing you can say that might matter is what Marc said to Todd. I love you. Say it often,mean it When you say it. You have no clue how much a depressed person beats themself up on a daily basis,your 2 cents isn't going to make a difference. Telling them their loved might though. Be there when they need to talk & listen without judgment or advice or lecturing. I don't care how smart you think you are,you're not smart enough. Just love them & tell them that you do. Kudos tho Marc for saying it to Todd.

This was an amazing conversation. I can relate so well to what Todd Hanson has gone through. I don't know where he got the info that only 6 Xanax pills with alcohol would kill you. If it did, I would have died dozens of times already. I'm not saying it is safe - especially for someone with no tolerance, mixing depressants is always dangerous, so don't do it. Technically, someone could die from the bottle of whiskey alone already, so it's always POSSIBLE. At the same time, someone with tolerance can mix benzos, opioids and alcohol regularly without much effect. But someone who wants to die wants it to be certain, and saying 6 pills with alcohol is enough is just ridiculous. Maybe someone was giving wrong information on purpose so people wouldn't die, I don't know.
@pascalecake7 жыл бұрын
He said 60
@G_D_K7 жыл бұрын
He said 60, but he didn't say how much per pill. Actual brand name Xanax can go as high as 2mg per pill, or .25 per pill.
@taqu7 жыл бұрын
Oh, oops. English is not my first language, so 6 and 60 sounded pretty similar. I guess that is more realistic. If they were only 0.25mg or 0.5mg pills, then it was only 15 or 30mg in total, which is not much. But if they had 2mg, that's 120mg, which is a lot and definitely a bad idea but it's still no guarantee to kill you (I know people who have taken around 100mg, and just been out of it for a long time). Again, I know I'm focusing on an insignificant thing, I'm just weird like that. I'm glad he's alive!

Having lost my husband to suicide a year and a half ago, I have to thank Todd for the gift of sharing your story. I have read a million books and articles but nothing has helped me truly grasp the "suicide trance" until now. And when you apologized to your loved ones, in some small way I felt like my husband apologizing to me. I have never viewed his suicide as selfish, only that he was in severe pain. I'm sorry you experienced that too, though I am glad you are alive to inspire others like me and those who battle depression. Thank you.

If you knew Todd Hanson you would know this bullshit was made up to redeem his career. It’s curious that he did a Harvey Weinstein film and his ex girlfriend Jennifer Stein he was abusive to drown in the ocean. He’s a racist and misogynist asshole. I am pretty sure he and Maron came up with this together to redeem their asshole personalities.

Thanks, Todd Hanson for sharing your experience. I used to have very deep depression and it's a rough road. It takes some real guts to share your experiences and your "failings'.In doing so you help others by letting them know that they are not alone in those feelings. Keep on keeping on.
@bethlibart9 жыл бұрын
This is so, so important. I will share it with all that need. I love Todd's Moth story "Sloth" - that is what brought me here. Depression is a serious life-threatening disease. Another great book to read about it is "Undercurrents" by Martha Manning, a memoir of a therapist's experience with depression. Long story short, she ended up getting shock treatment (sounds drastic but it works). Difficult time in my life now, and I needed to hear this.

When depression is a lingering doom, always near- and not triggered by anything obvious~ It's roots are most likely in the invisible realms- 'Spiritual oppression' has to do with inter-dimensional beings who are attached to you (doors you've opened or had opened for you) They love to cause suicide- it's a gold ring to these negative beings--who work undetected.. No surprise,humor is a prescription given by spiritual teachers to ward off demons/spirit parasites- :)

Parkinson was really offensive here - calling a guest 'bruised' and 'damaged' totally crossed the line. Ryan let those comments go through to the keeper and continued on being gracious and polite, even when Parkinson continually interrupted her. Maybe it's time for Parkinson to tottle off into retirement where he can hang out with other dinosaurs and obnoxious old men...
@MsJh197011 жыл бұрын
Ryan seems happy enough to be there, but she was clearly only there to peddle her recent film. Parkinson was trying to get her to be personal about herself - I can see him provoking her here to try and get something of 'her' and she just didn't want to play. I agree with Parky that Ryan dislikes personal interviews, and she's certainly defensive - she must have known she'd have to talk about herself on this show - but Parky hardly went out of his way to put her at ease.

I had also been lead to believe that it was Meg Ryan who was rude in this interview, but Parkinson was terrible. He was confrontational and treated her like some kind of naughty school girl. There there....don't have such foolish thoughts you silly actress. I had also heard Ryah was rude to the other guests...huh? I don't see it. It's too bad she couldn't just walk off the set.

It amazes me that some people actually think Parkinson was in the wrong. From the get go, Meg Ryan was WEIRD.She was unsteady going down the steps to the stage, she was aloof, cold, uncommunicative, downright hostile (to Trinny & Susannah, not just Parkinson) & seemed to not want to be there from the first milisecond. I was shocked at how totally opposite she is to the quirky, cutesy characters she normally plays in her, generally predictable, movies.She was obnoxious & THE worst interviewee.
