Stratum is essentially compressed volcanic soil that contains a ton of nutrients and minerals. LOVE stratum however it should only be used on a temporary basis. If you don’t keep up with watering, stratum will eventually resort to drawing out moisture/water from the plants’ roots. I only use it to root or rehab because it is AMAZING for that. Considering the cost of stratum, it’s not the most cost efficient medium because it does break down over time and you can’t necessarily reuse it the same way like the other semi hydro mediums available (like pon or leca). Just some things for you think about as you explore your stratum journey! Beautiful collection and good luck!
@M.mbotanicals2 ай бұрын
Thank you so much omg, this was such a thoughtful and informative comment 🥺 I had no idea that stratum draws moisture from the roots omg that’s great to know! Thank for watching, and sharing some insight 💕🫶🏼
@Oubaitori_Aroids2 ай бұрын
Just a little advice if you’d like it, stratum does break down over time(if you weren’t aware) & turns to mush which can cause rot. It can also be a bit heavy on the roots when it breaks down so mixing it with chunky perlite can help that. I even like to add a little vermiculite to help keep the moisture if you don’t want to water as often. If you mix it with those, it’ll still give the same results but stretch so much farther so you don’t have to spend as much on stratum. ☺️ Loved your video, great job can’t wait to see more!
@M.mbotanicals2 ай бұрын
You are amazing! I’ve actually recently been switching to adding perlite into my stratum for that very reason! I never thought of adding vermiculite tho, that’s so freaking smart. Will for sure be trying that!

@@M.mbotanicals I’m glad you didn’t take offense to any advice. Definitely not my intent, just want to share any knowledge I’ve collected with other plant lovers cause it can get expensive.😅 They are so addictive!
@M.mbotanicals2 ай бұрын
@@Oubaitori_Aroidsomg it can be so freaking expensive 😭 the amount of money I’ve blown on experimenting with different substrates is ridiculous lmao. Wish I knew about stratum was sooner, I would have saved sooooo much money 😢
@Oubaitori_Aroids2 ай бұрын
@@M.mbotanicals so expensive! But my thoughts are if they help gives us some glimmer of happiness in this not so great life, life can be really hard sometimes, so to me it’s totally worth it.🤍
@mpcalvin72 ай бұрын
@@M.mbotanicals Adding perlite definitely helps in my experience, both to save money, and to add some air. though as the above poster mentioned, I moved away from Stratum for larger plants due to the mush issue. My current fav medium for anthurium is tree fern fiber based. Strait tree fern is great, but again due to cost, I mix things in. I've settled on 4 parts tree fern, 2 parts soil, 1 part perlite, 1 part charcoal.

You inspired me to not keep plants that don't bring me joy! Been purging a bunch of my other plants and replacing them with Syngonium, Alocasia, Hoya's and of course Anthurium. Which I too have become INSANELY obsessed with, they now account for most of my collection. I managed to get my hands on a Dark Phoenix for only 100$! Keep posting your videos girly!

@M.mbotanicals5 ай бұрын
My boyfriend bought mine locally as a Christmas present for me! The collector he got it from got it as a seed from Barry Schwartz before she sold it to him. I’ve seen a few for sale before on face book anthurium groups before, keep an eye out! Or go ahead and dm us on instagram, it might be a bit of a wait but I should have some for sale soon in 4-5 months !

I got the same greenhouse as you and will have to set it up, can I ask you some questions? How do you manage the lighting? The lights seem a little far from the plants to me. Do the bottom shelves have other LED strips? Do you only use a fan for air flow or do you also have an air extractor? Sorry for all these questions and thanks if you answer me, I haven't yet found a video of a greenhouse like yours that explains the technical side.
@M.mbotanicals5 ай бұрын
I no longer have this green house! But I had everything connected to a timed switch plug thing? I forgot the name. I did later on, install lights on the bottom shelf’s. I did only use one fan for air flow! No air extractor.
@M.mbotanicals5 ай бұрын
If I had the option though I would suggest having better air flow than what I did then! Now I run two fans in my new set up, 24/7. I would like to eventually install a vent that connects to the window, but there’s some issues with that because I live in an area that can get pretty cold.

What a beautiful list.. I just started lately, and got from ecuagenera and epp (eddy pranoto) of indonesia. My fave so far are from the hybrid of splendidum of ecuagenera ecuador, i got 3 of this hybrids: nimphas joy which x negrolaminum, splendid martina which is x to bessae and the last hybrid is amazon rabbit x splendidum, both are gorgeous with an amazing skintextures. Other favorites from ecuagenera are Negrolaminum Gigi Red, the Black Luxurian, and the Bessae Aff red and open sinus. From Epp, they have huge collecetions to chose from but my top of the list which i acquired are the Papillilaminum Exceed, the Spirit of Javait, and the FsxRed Spider which has a beutiful closed sinus and the gorgeous reddish emergence leaf. I was also looking forward to get from them wih the pure red spider, the red elephant papil, nox and the onari but they are tagged with a high prices at the moment, but hopefully i can get as im still negotiating prices.
@M.mbotanicals5 ай бұрын
I love your taste in anthurium! Lots of waxy and interesting textures, I love how different taste can vary from collector to collector. I got a beautiful bessea aff from ecua a while ago and it was so gorgeous! Unfortunately I gave it root rot and I died to a stump :( but they do have a great selection of plants. Although I got a bit disappointed by them because I did hear about accusations of them contributing to poaching. I would suggest checking out kartel duan on instagram! I’ve made a few purchases from them and they were 10/10 as long as you know how to acclimate imports! They have some beautiful red spiders, they also have my number one wishlist plant red vein dark phoenix!

@@M.mbotanicals definitely will try out KD and even Tezula. i guess i have a favorable condition in Philippines, i also do my own soil media mixes. I have one plant imported from rcuagenera before, the regale white stripes and still thriving, though never seen any develpmnt at the moment since i purchased it last dec 12 2023 cross finger it will soon be better. Those from Eddy Pranoto of Indo, i guess it will be an easy job for me as we have almost the same weather condition, hopefully everything going well. I know some friends who has the plants coming from them that acclimated so fast and grow well in an outside environment.
