I am considering replacing my 3" Pypes ("X" pipe ) Street Pro mufflers on my 72 GS 455 with Borla XS. I understand that they do not have the drone like other mufflers. Did you find the same when you tested them? Thanks for your testing these, Steve

I’ve had 3 different sets of mufflers on this Buick. Super 40’s, Spintech’s and these ProXS’s. These are by far my favorites. Almost no drone and just a great all around sound.

When i was an 18 yo youngster, I almost bought this beast for 5,500.00 It was between the 455 and 72 Chevelle 396? I think. Damn it, went and got a loan approved for a 1997 z28 Lt1, my full coverage insurance was gonna be 2ce almost 3x the car payment. Sweet ride, the ol Buick 😉

Thank you and yes it does. I have the Flowmaster 3” pipe kit with crossover. 3 different sets of mufflers and these are my favorites.

@@justinrobbins7026 just ordered a set for my 67 GS400 , I’m running the 284-88-H in a 430 with headers and 2.5 exhaust. No cross over but into Cherry bomb salute mufflers and tail pipes out the rear in stock location. Has a nice growl at higher RPMs but a little too much or loud at idle and lower rpm’s. Was hoping for a performance sound like yours. Looks like I might be adding a cross over. H pipe would be easier but not sure if it wiping give me your sound.

Sounds like a great setup. I had Flowmaster Super 40’s, Spintech and went back to these. There’s some videos on here, mainly Chevy’s, with the ProXS mufflers and I absolutely loved the sound. If you decide to go this route, you’d be pretty happy with the results.

It’s a 3” Flowmaster pipe kit with a crossover. I love the sound of the car. Tried these, Flowmasters and went back to the Borla Pro XS.

Is your motor stock and do you have 3” manifold back? Or 2.5 to the mufflers and then 3” back?

It has a Stage 1 cam and the normal bolt-ons. Headers to 3.5” collectors, 3.5”-3” reducers and 3” with an H pipe all the way back.

I love them. I’ve had 2 sets of Flowmaster and a set of Spintech’s on it but the drone was pretty bad. These just sound perfect to me with almost no drone whatsoever.

Hey man! I’m also in Mass and I’m looking to upgrade the mufflers on my 1970 455. I saw both videos (flowmaster 40 and this one). How’s the drone with the 3000’s? I was contemplating the 6000’s myself. Now that you’ve had these around a year, are you happy with the 3’s or should you have gone with the 6’s? Thanks!

The drone was pretty terrible honestly. They sound great outside the car but driving for any length was brutal, in my opinion. I ended up putting my 3”Borla ProXs back on and absolutely love the sound. Still sound unbelievable outside but much quieter on the inside.

@@calebwhite1454 they’re Doug’s Headers. I don’t remember the part number but they’re a long tube with 3.5” collectors and a great fit.

Amaa it’s basically a stock 1970 GS engine with 3” exhaust. These are the 3000 Sporsman. Not the xl’s. I love the way they sound!

@@wallnut886they were really loud inside. If you like that, they are definitely for you. I ended up going back to Borla ProXS’s just because I liked the overall sound better.
