No because we only work with helicopter companies that we know well.

15:27 walter bladder: I disagree. No reason to carry water, especially several liters of it when there are lodges 30 to 60 minutes apart the whole way. One one liter Nalgene is plenty enough, and even that can be half empty when starting the daily hike.

Fair enough. There are different strategies that different people may consider more efficient for themselves. We’ve found this method to be the most efficient but totally accepted that there are other ways of doing it.

Hello! What range of sleeping bag do you recommend? Zero? -20? BTW - fantastic and informative video!

Thanks so much! If i’m not sharing a room with anyone i’d definitely go for a -15 comfort at least. If i know i’ll be sharing the room with someone else then it will naturally be warmer and I could probably go for a -5 comfort. I think 0 is too close to the limit especially from Dingboche onwards and that’s usually when sleep is super important for recovery and acclimatization. When i doubt go for the warmer one because you can always open it up if you’re too warm.

Hi 🙋🏻‍♀️ After arriving the basecamp do I sleep one Night in the basecamp or I have to Go straight away downwards? Best from Germany ⛰️
@lifehappensoutdoors
@lifehappensoutdoors 4 ай бұрын
Thanks for the question! Normally we don’t sleep at Everest Base Camp. In Fall season there are rarely any tents at all. During spring season we generally don’t go into the base camp because the climbing operators prefer to keep the climbers separated from the trekkers for all sorts of reasons including potentially bringing up flus and other viruses that proliferate in the base camp during the climbing window. We usually take our pictures at the entrance to the camp and then make our way back to either Gorak Shep or Lobuche depending on your itinerary.

What's the summit success rate?
@lifehappensoutdoors
@lifehappensoutdoors 5 ай бұрын
That depends on the season. Typically it’s around 50% but that’s a very disingenuous figure because there are seasons when it’s like a highway of summiteers and other seasons when there is no one on the top at all. But 50% would be the 10 year average.

Hello from Oregon, USA -- Thanks for this very well-produced video short. For 2 1/2 years in the mid-1970s, I lived and worked near Luwang village in the Mardi river watershed about 7 hours NW of Pokhara. At the time, Pokhara was still a small town of just 26,000 people and the region completely roadless. During my stay in this area, I roamed far and wide in the Annapurnas, including trips to the Annapurna Sanctuary and Mardi Himal base camp with local Gurung shepherds. Your video brought to mind wonderful memories of an adventurous and really fun time in my life almost 50 years ago. Best wishes to you.
