I didn't even think this was a thing. I still prefer figure skating, you can get those great moves on the edge.

I don’t think people get how actually hard this sport is I do this and your skates are so heavy and you have to pretend like there is light as a feather. I love it so much, but it is so hard skating. Their skates are much lighter than rollerskates, especially the competitive rollerskates, when I do flips in the air, I have to make sure to keep thinking that my rollerskates is light as feather

I lived for a while just outside of Paris in a town that to my surprise did not have an ice skating rink.I had been Skating and Dancing since I was 2 years old. The little town did have a roller rink and to my delight it was filled with trained skaters just like this. So I started skating and competing and hoped one day to go to the Olympics. At that time it was supposed to become a Summer Olympic sport. When that didn't happen I kept on with my Ballet training and became a Prima Ballerina instead. I watch this with a bit of envy and regret. Had they included Rollerskating as an Olympic sport, who knows how different my life would have been! Thank you for the upload and the memories!We need a petition to have Roller Skating as a Summmer Olympic Sport!

They must have special wheels to do all this cause I doubt the skates at the local rink would allow you do do all those edge changes

I've been figure skating (roller skating) since I was 3, but have since retired. I was coached by Bryan and Dee Dee Denney, whose daughter is Caydee Denney, who made the switch to ice and went on to skate in the Olympics. I hadn't followed ice skating in years, but watched when Caydee was on TV. I was shocked, to say the least. I felt their moves were so elementary and it was almost painful to watch. Roller skating, when done like this pair (and I've even seen better), is so much more advanced. Lifts are better with more diversity. Spins are taken to a much higher level. The difficulty and demand are pushed to their max but it makes for one hell of a performance as you've witnessed here. It's truly a shame roller hasn't made it to the Olympics. The skaters deserve it and the viewers deserve to be wowed. On a side note-what's the final song in their program?

Ive seen this pair time and time again they are good but it lacks real emotion cookie cutter choreography they can do much better I know I'm not saying they aren't talented just put more into emotion!

Wow!!!...this pair is from on another planet!!! ...catching that girl after the throw is much harder on roller skates because " you can't dig into the ice for fine control , like on ice skates!!

Never been particularly into ice skating but seeing what roller skaters can do, I'd definitely be more inclined to watch this in the Olympics. It's more accessible and relatable to me since I actually have access to roller skating unlike ice skating. Edit: I'm aware of Jam skating and love that, I wish there could be more spotlight shined on not only artistic roller skating but Jam skating as well.
