On my Grandfather's auction bill from December 1937 his only tractor was a 10-20. 4 horse teams. Dad said he preferred to plant, harvest, and make hay with the teams. The tractor did tillage, and belt work.

How did you know the spindle bearing was bad?
@billstractorcorner23 күн бұрын
it was incredibly hard to steer, but steered fine with no binding if I jacked the front off the ground. Soon as I took the spindle out the balls fell all over the place, so it was confirmed. These tractors were never built to have the weight of a loader on the front end, so if you have one, likely your bearings are toast.

3A - the one I put on in this video actually died a few weeks later. Not sure if it was a defect or undersized, but it started passing current both ways. So I twisted 3 together and put them in the same spot... so far so good. So basically if you get all 3 wires and put them together, connect them to the + it will work?
@billf1572 ай бұрын
No, you need to ensure the exciter wire is on switched power and has either a diode or a bulb or resistor to stop it from backfeeding to your coil and causing the engine to continue to run when you turn off the key. The other 2 wires, yes, straight to positive.
@RetroScythe2 ай бұрын
@@billf157 I meant just to activate the alternator for example if it was being used with a small 5hp engine to charge a lead acid battery. If the exciter wire had a switch so when the engine is started you switch the switch and then the alternator should start to generate power right?
@billstractorcorner2 ай бұрын
@@RetroScythe yup that would work. You only need power long enough to start the charging, you could even use a momentary contact switch on the exciter wire. Or if you're running it the way youre talking about, all 3 together should work fine I would think. Try it and lemme know! :)

I don't know whether you primed the surface first or not but, as a retired painter, I have never seen a paint/primer such as Tremclad work worth a dam(n) unless they were applied over a primer. My motto is 'always, always prime first'.

Yes sir I used tremclad primer - I actually like their primer, it seems to cover well and haven't had issues with it. The paint tho, specifically the recreational white, seems to be a pita. The international red was fine to work with tho!

Just a lil tip. Ive noticed your titles. Try and get creative with them. Make them eye catching must-click titles. I used to make my titles like yours and views weren't good but when i started not telling the audience what is happening in the video, the views and likes have gone up. And also the time of day you post makes a big difference. The most important one is consistency. Its getting to the time of year where numbers go up so the more you post, the more the algorithm will push out your vids👍

I meant to ask you and if you posted on it in another video, I apologize as I missed it. What loader is shown on your opening introduction to your videos? I picked up a '53 Jubilee the end of December that has a Davis 100 loader on it. Here's a link to a short video of it before I bought it: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/a7qZmpRe1qjKqX0.htmlsi=FE6PQhNYDs1uzmVF It would be nice to have power steering on mine, but at $1875, it's a bit pricey to add it.
@billstractorcorner4 ай бұрын
Hi, it's a Twin-Draulic. If you look in my community posts section of my channel there's a photo of the plate on the loader. I looked at the power steering too, and thought the same thing! For that much money I could just buy another tractor with power steering! Putting something heavy on the 3pth as well as having new spindle thrust bearings really made it steer much better, but it's still a beast soon as there's any weight on the loader.
