I have a pet tarantula and as a tarantula nerd, when its abdomen is raised it is probably very mad right now.

W hen you get to be 30 years old that 15 lb Monster Maul will speak to your back. Count on it. Get a Fiskars. They split better than Monster and and more efficiently.Bill coming.

Yeah, I guess it takes a 15 pound maul to compensate for the log sitting on a "trampoline". Had you had a proper block at the adequate height, a lighter tool would have done the job without all that knee-bending.

Great explanation. But one point is not so good. The pallet as a base cushions your impact. So you lose strength. Greetings Peter from Germany

I lilly broke the weld on that splitting maul so what I made it was a torquing bar from a Chrysler and weld a splitting maul head to the torquing bar and it lasted 10years

That is awesome. Very informative and helpful. Now sit in a wheelchair with one hand and swing a maul to split that same technique. Not trying to be a smartass, just saying.

A very good explanation of what and how to do with firewood. I came to the same conclusion through my own experience and that of others. But I will note a couple more points: 1. it is actually safer and more convenient to chop firewood in a tire, although there are nuances: a) there is not always a tire of the right diameter when you have an ordinary passenger car like a sedan, and b) when you chop a lot and into small fractions - they fill the entire space of the diameter and clamp each other so that it is difficult to pull them out later 2. the tire must be placed in such a way that there is enough space to walk around it 360° in order to hit where it is necessary and where it is convenient 3. I consider point 2:11 to be half-correct: it is necessary to chop from the edge, but not with the entire area of the cleaver. This puts this moment in time at 2:18 - not a split, but at 2:23 - a split. Because the sharp part went in at an acute angle, not parallel to the wood because it is so banal that there is more resistance! So I place the wood as low as possible and make the swing as wide as possible. For me, it's like a sport and a struggle to optimize the process: how to swing and split with one hit, so as not to waste energy.

Try soaking them in buttermilk instead of regular milk. The buttermilk gives them a tang that you don't get with sweet milk. Great video though I kinda wish we had them around here but I'm kinda glad we don't. But they would definitely be on the menu if they ever showed up. Lol

My grandpa used the maul and hammer method. Place maul on log, smash log with hammer. Up until he was 70 he did this by himself, maul in one hand hammer in the other. After 70 he had someone hold maul or swing the hammer😂. Thanks for reminding me of him.
